CHAPTER FIVE

Viktor, Diego, Allison, and I all sat in a booth, drowning ourselves in alcohol. Marcus never met up with Viktor and Allison for the handoff, like Diego had predicted. Diego was still talking nonsense about the altercation him and Stanley had with two of the Sparrows.

"Excuse me," Allison called after one of the bartenders, who ignored her.

"I mean, who does that? Who does it?" Diego continued to ramble.

"What are you mumbling about?" Allison asked, half fed up with Diego and half drunk.

"Lila," Diego stated obviously. "Dumping Stan on me after all these years? I mean, that's not right."

"Hey, man. If you did the deed, don't blame her for the consequences." Viktor pointed out.

"That's not the point." Diego stated.

"Oh, what's the point?"

"He's cramping my style." Diego explained. "I need to be able to react to danger on a moment's notice," Diego snapped his fingers to emphasize his point. "How am I to do that when I'm playing wet nurse to a 12-year-old?"

"You're his dad!" Viktor exclaimed.

"Alleged dad." Diego reminded him.

"Well, at least you have a kid," Allison stated before getting up to get another drink.

"Great going." I mumbled.

As Allison waited for her refill, Five and Klaus burst through the hotel doors, quickly rushing over to us. "Okay, gather round, people." Five urged us all together. "Where is–where's every—where's Luther?"

"Haven't seen him."

"Who knows?"

"Wait, Luther has been gone this entire time?" I noticed.

"Okay you know what? We have bigger problems to worry about right now." Five began.

"Like what?" Allison replied, clearly tipsy.

Five flipped through a couple of pages of the book he had in his hand. "This," he pointed to a specific page, gesturing for us to look.

"Who are they?" Viktor questioned as Five continuously showed us different pages with  different women.

'These are our mothers." Five stated.

"That one's mine," Klaus pointed out as Five turned to the page with her photo.

"They're all dead." Five revealed. "They all died on the exact same day, October 1st, 1989."

"That's our birthday," Viktor stated.

"Not anymore, it isn't. They all died before we were born."

"That's dumb. If we weren't born, how could we exist?" Diego pointed out.

"Are you saying...that we don't exist anymore?" I questioned.

"Exactly," Five confirmed my question.

"What are you saying?" Viktor questioned.

"I'm saying, when we jumped here, we created a time paradox. All right? Not just any paradox. This is the grandfather paradox." Five explained.

"What the hell is a grandfather paradox?" Klaus questioned before Five took a deep breath to explain what mess we got ourselves into this time.

The group of us stood around the pool table with Stan. We were all speechless. Since our mother's were dead, we no longer exist ... .except technically we do because we traveled to the past before they all died. It was all confusing.
