CHAPTER NINE

I walked into the lobby, seeing Viktor, Luther, and Diego all talking amongst each other. "What happened?" I asked, noticing Luther's worried expression. Taking a glance at Viktor's cut cheek and the red mark on the back of Diego's neck spoke words that didn't need to be said. "Who did that to you guys?"

"Doesn't matter," Viktor answered.

Allison appeared at the end of the stairs, joining our conversation. I noticed she had a bruised cheek, adding onto the number of injuries. "What's going on?"

"Oh my God. He got you too?" Luther asked.

"Are you okay?" Allison asked Viktor.

"Great. You?"

"Never better."

Before Luther could ask any more questions, Five and Lila blinked next to us, the force of it pushing us all back. "Shit," Five muttered as Lila pushed him off her.

"Where have you been?" Viktor asked.

"Facing my mortality, Viktor. I don't recommend it." Five stated as he stumbled to get up from the rubble Lila and he brought with them.

"You had the briefcase? We've been looking for this!" Allison exclaimed.

"Well, look no further. That's the last one on Earth." Five replied, having no regard for it as Allison picked it up. "Or was the last one." Allison scoffed in response, walking away from him. "Yeah, that's toast."

Luther pulled Diego away from Lila, asking him about something I couldn't hear nor cared about. They kept looking towards Allison, who was sitting on the stairs with an angry expression plastered on her face. "Hey, Chatty Cathys, quit the chitchat, all right?" Five interrupted the two, bringing everyone's attention to him. "I'm calling a family meeting here." Lila began walking away, before Diego stopped her from leaving, muttering something to her. I assumed he was telling her she could stay as she technically is 'family.' "Where's Klaus?"

"I'll be right back," Diego announced, slipping past everyone towards the elevator.

"Don't leave me with you–" Lila began, Diego not bothering to listen to her protests.

"Diego–Lost another. Great." Five sighed, turning his attention to the rest of us.

"Spit it out, Five." Allison spoke from her seat on the stairs.

"Oh, well, since you asked so nicely, sister mine, our little paradox brought forth a freaking Kugelblitz." Five exclaimed, frustrated with our situation.

"What the hell is a Kugelblitz?" Viktor asked.

"I think we're gonna need drinks for this." I spoke, walking towards the bar as everyone followed. Five went behind the bar, starting to prepare drinks while the rest of us sat around him.

"So this Kugelblitz, it's...?" Viktor began.

"The end of everything." Five finished. "Every rock, every star, every atom sucked into a radiant black hole."

"Randomly collapsing matter every moment in time across all existence till nothing's left." Lila added in.

"Hate to say I told you so, but..." Five spoke.

"You love to say I told you so." I replied. "Both you and Dad."

"You know, it's impressive." Lila started. "Whoever knocked off your mums hated you all enough to end the entire universe."

"We don't know that." Viktor remarked defensively. Did he know something we didn't?

"True, but Lila is right. Why else would they kill off only our moms?" I added.
