Kim Dokja was startled awake by the vibration of his phone, he was sleeping peacefully until he was interrupted. He tried to ignore the device on the nightstand and return to the comfort of his own bed, but failed. He barely slept two hours and now he had to get up. Dokja groaned in annoyance, sitting up in bed. Rubbing his face with one hand to try to wake up, he fumbled with the other for his cell phone.

He grabbed it, then looked at the screen, the caller was Yoo Joonghyuk. He probably wanted to know if Dokja finally got a response to his proposal. He pressed the green button and placed the phone next to his ear.

"Good morning, Kim Dokja, have I woken you up?" Joonghyuk's voice sounded tired, because he hadn't been sleeping well since he needed the guidance of a guide.

"Good morning, Yoo Joonghyuk." He cleared his throat to stop the hoarseness in his voice.

"Well, will I finally get a response to my proposal?" Joonghyuk asked impatiently.

"Well...I-" Dokja hesitated, but then thought of some possibilities.

He will be a guide for a high-ranking esper and will earn a lot of money. His mother will also finally rest, she deserves it.

"If the salary the company offers me is good, I will accept the offer." Kim Dokja didn't want to sound like someone who was only interested in money, but he didn't want to show Joonghyuk what he really thought. He doesn't understand why, but deep down he worries about him.

There were a few minutes of silence on the phone.

"That's not the kind of answer I expected to hear, Kim Dokja." He sighed. "I assure you the pay is high, you wouldn't need to worry about money, but it is a dangerous job, are you sure you want to become my guide just for the money?"

If Kim Dokja tells Yoo Joonghyuk that this is the only reason he wants to work for him, will he allow him to be his guide or will he immediately reject him? Dokja thought for a moment before giving his answer. He was afraid, but that's nothing new for him.

"Yoo Joonghyuk, here's my answer. The only reason I accept your proposal is because I will have a big salary and I have to support my mother. If you want someone who accepts your proposal because they want to work with you, find someone else."

After a moment of silence, Yoo Joonghyuk let out a long sigh. "Very well, come to the office today at ten o'clock, so that you can be appointed as my guide." He responded flatly. "I will send someone to pick you up and take you to the office." He hung up.

Kim Dokja removed the phone from his ear and frowned.

He didn't think about how Yoo Joonghyuk would react to his answer, he wasn't happy, but then again, that asshole rarely showed emotions. He was curious as to why Joonghyuk wanted him as a guide.

There are many experienced guides, why did you choose me?

Kim Dokja sighed and looked at the time, it was 8:45 am, he still had some time before the person who came to pick him up would arrive.

He prepared mentally and went to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth. He then took a quick shower and dried himself off, wrapping a towel around his waist. Kim Dokja left the bathroom and headed towards his room. As he was looking for something to wear, his phone vibrated. He picked it up and noticed that it was a message from Yoo Joonghyuk: 'Your ride will arrive in twenty minutes.' Kim Dokja looked at the time, then put the phone back on the bedside table and continued dressing.

When Kim Dokja finished dressing he heard a knock on the door. He sighed, it was probably the person who came to pick him up, he took one last look in the mirror to make sure he didn't look too bad, and then headed towards the front door.
