Light Steve stood next to the caped Ocean Steve, beads of sweat running down his face. Everywhere he could look, he'd see nothing but charred trees and grass, flicking orange flames, and smoke and ash. He knew this Ocean Steve must be suffering, seeing as there was no way there was any sort of moisture in the air anymore. He gripped the shimmering Iron Sword in his grasp, the wolf on his other side bristling at the figure who had started this inferno.
The Steve before them were varying shades of orange, white, and black, with whisps of yellow here and there. Flames aged all over him, making it look as if he had waving, flaming hair. His eyes were a pure white color, and slowly slithering in the air around him were what seemed to be coiling whips of fire. It seemed he was better at long distance attacks, although getting close to him would clearly be fatal.
"Well, tonight is just the best!" Blazing exclaimed, letting out what seemed to be a genuine laugh. "I start one little fire, and I get to test my metal against an Elder, and King, and a strange Light Steve! Don't ya love how things just work out sometimes!" With that, he slammed a foot against the ground, as his whole body ignited even further, his oranges and reds turning to blue and purple hues. Instantly, all the charred trees in a 50-block radiance turned to piles of ash, the dirt of the grown turning to hardened clay and bridle glass.
The wave of heat slammed into Light and the Ocean King back, hitting the ground and driving their weapons into the ground to hold them steady. Light felt sweat dripping down his face and arms as more blasts of heat shot into them, the sounds of the crackling temperature mixing with Blazing's laughter. He turned his head, his eyes narrowed due to the severe stinging, and looked to Ocean King. The water-based Steve seemed to be really struggling, the reservoirs on his arms fully depleted. It took Light a moment to put his thoughts together, his mind starting to become fogged.
"I don't know you, and you don't know me! But we're gonna have to do this together, or sit here and die!" Light yelled over the crackling of the air. Ocean King lifted his head a bit, heavily leaning on his two tridents stuck in the ground. All he seemed to be able to do was nod his head. Light looked back to Blazing, then to Ocean and nodded as well. he grabbed the king by the arm, crouched down, and took off into the air with great force. Blazing's head shot up and swing out his arm, one of the soul fire whips twisting through the air at the two Steves. Light pulled out his sword, slashing out at the blazing ropes, and they hooked onto the metallic surface. He grunted, instantly releasing the hilt as the blade glowed a bright orange, beginning to melt immediately. Luckily, as it fell it brough the whip down with it, it crashing to the ground and making a thin divot wherever it touched. Now about 30 blocks in the air, Light hooked his arm around Ocean King's. "Replenish your water from the moisture farther up then come back!" He hollered, before stopping midair, turning around, and hurling Ocean King straight up. Trusting he was high enough to fly on his own, Light flipped in the air, facing the ground, and blasted right down at Blazing.
Blazing was still laughing, one of his eyes seeming to be twitching. He threw both of his arms out to the side, both whips lashing in the air, ready to wrap around their next victim and burn them to ash. Just as Blazing was about to go for the kill, Light grit his teeth and teleported, crashing into the ground just blocks in front of the fiery Steve. The heat was overwhelming, and the amount of sweat he was having nearly doubled within that mere second. And yet Light yanked out a pure white crystal and lifted it so it was just a block away from Blazing's face.
"LIGHT PURGE!" Light screamed, and everything in the vicinity flashed a pure, blinding white. Blazing screamed as well, stumbling back and catching himself with his hands as he fell, the whips again falling to the ground. Light teleported a good dozen blocks away, his breathing labored, smoke, ash, and sweat making it increasingly hard to see. As Blazing began to stand again, Ocean King landed next to Light, his breathing still heavy, but better than it had been before.
"I got high enough to gather water... but it's already starting to evaporate!" He confirmed, him seeming to need to take a break as he spoke. "I have... 19 tridents left... but they'll all melt pretty fast!" Seeming to notice Light's lack of weapon, or perhaps having seen what had happened before, he held out one of the said tridents to him. Light took it with a nod of his head, grasping it tightly. His mind was racing of things the Creators had taught him, especially anything to do with fire and heat. And yet, as he stared at the Steve before them, enveloped in the raging blue and purple flames, none of that seemed useful. The only thing that he could even seem to think of at the moment was that heat conducted electricity an-
"I have a plan!" Light coughed, spinning the trident around in his grasp, and looking to Ocean. "Can you make it storm? All out, deadly! lightning storm!" In his left hand he brought back out the Light Crystal, as he stumbled slightly to the side, his mind growing even foggier.
"What good will that do! It's not like any rain will-" Maybe it was the look in Light's eyes, but it seemed to hit the king as he spoke like a falling rock. He rolled his shoulders and nodded, taking out two tridents, also gripping them tightly, as if straining his grasp to keep him awake. "Ready when you are." Light nodded as well, looking back to Blazing, who seemed to have ragained his sight. Unlike before, the inferno of a Steve seemed to actually be mad, dark purple smoke wafted off of his flames as his whips slowly lifted off the ground, writhering and lashing about.
"Through every trident you've got around him! Make a perimeter!" Light hollered and launched forward. Blazing let out a loud, angered cackle, as he whipped his arms outwards, the stark blue coils launching out to Light like tentacles. Light rolled to the left, narrowly missing being caught as a wave of excruciating heat crashed down upon him. He heard a whistling sound through the sounds of the fire, seeing tridents lodging into the ground all around the area. He sprung up, still sprinting right at his opponent. Blazing stomped his foot down again, and the blue and purples got brighter, certain flickers of the flames looking almost white now. The whips suddenly began to draw back to him, snaking back up his arms. Within moments, the whips had solidified into flames in the forms of two large cutlasses, as Blazing spun them about and launched right at Light. Light lifted his tridents and swing, the prismarine-alloy striking the flickering soul flames, as a shockwave of heat blasted out, ripping the air out of Light's lungs. Blazing laughed again as light stumbled back, and the two halves of the tridents fell at his feet.
"I have the hottest flames in all of the Overworld!" Blazing laughed, almost laughing too much to get his words out. "What made you think that you, and some Ocean Steve could beat me!" As blazing grasped his knees, bent over in laughter, Light took a long, deep breath, the smoke stinging his lings, and launched back up into the air. Just about then, a clap of thunder rumbled across the sky. Blazing lifted his head up, still laughing as he looked at Light. "Really! Your plan is RAIN! How stupid are you t-" Light lifted the light crystal in the air, electricity sparking through his hair and the surrounding clouds. Confusion was all over Blazings face, until he looked around, and saw the sparks of energy rippling through his flames; and the tridents lodged in the ground in a wobbly circle around him. He flung his head up, opened his mouth in rage... as Light summoned a bolt of lightning on him. The sky erupted, as the electricity within the flames, hot air, and the tridents reacted to the single bolt, and the entire ring of tridents erupted an eye searing, ear ringing beam of lightning.
Light slowly blinked his eyes open, and the first thing he noticed is that the air wasn't unbearable anymore. It was hot, but not scorching. His whole body felt tingly, as she shook his head a bit and sat up, looking around. A few blocks away was Ocean King, laying on his face, two tridents lodged in the ground near him. Light stood, turned around, and looked at Blazing.
He was on his knees, in the center of a crater the size of the trident's permitter, and his flames well now small, and back to hues of red and orange. He looked more solid now, and a lot less like some sort of living fire. The crater still had a few sparks about it, bolts of electricity occasionally crossing across Blazing's body. He slowly lifted his head, looking up to Light, his breathing heavy but slow.
"Well... that sure was something..." Blazing said, before coughing and shaking a bit. "Hope I get to fight you and that King again someday." Right before Light could say something, Blazing seemed to turn into solid flames, and was carried away by the wind, twirling up into the air. Light watched him blow away for a moment, before turning back to Ocean King, who was now also on his knees, letting out a grunt. Light offered a hand down, and the water-based Steve took it, and he pulled him to his feet.
"That was a good plan, and some good fighting." Ocean said, him shaking Light's hand before letting go. "We could use someone like you around. This sort of thing is surprisingly common no adays." That sounded about right to Light, seeing how often some new evil arose in his original universe.
"Sorry, but I'm not a person to stay still. Gotta go find my wolf and then Ima goes find my own problems." Light responded, turning around and beginning to walk away. He heard Ocean yell something to him as he left, stepping through the remaining smoke i search of his white furred wolf.
Ocean King watched as the Light Steve disappeared, hearing voices approaching from the left. He turned to see the captain of his guard, as well Green Captain and a minty-hued Steve that had a blindfold on. He seemed darker than most Chromatics; sorta like Elder Green. He winced and began to walk to the small group of Steves. He had a feeling this wouldn't be the last time Blazing came to burn.
