(Y/N POV)

It's been one year since Light Yagami and Ayumi Tadomi started dating. For their anniversary, Ayumi wanted to meet up Light so they could exchange gifts. Light tried making an excuse again saying he had a busy schedule, but Ayumi persuaded him to.

Ayumi was waiting at the address Light sent her. It wasn't near any commotion. The building was a vacant apartment in the middle of a small field. She heard footsteps behind her and turned around to see Light wearing his casual clothes.

"You're here," Ayumi said.

"Of course, I'm here," Light replied with a smile. "You think I'd just leave you here alone?" He took her chin and kissed her. "I would never put you to danger," he lied.

Ayumi smiled. "I know you wouldn't."

The two of them stood there, Light's hand still on her chin ad Ayumi's arm behind her back.

"Now that you're here, I can finally give you my gift," Ayumi cheerfully said. She removed her hand from behind her back. She had a wrapped medium sized box and handed it to Light with both hands. "Open it."

Light looked down at the box and gently took it from her hands. He smiled in a way to show that he was intrigued. "I wonder what's inside," he said.

Light unwrapped the gift and inside was a bowl of yakiniku with rice, chopsticks, and a photo of the two of them with a platinum frame.

"Wow," Light said with amazement. "You made this all for me?"

"Of course I did!" Ayumi replied. "I practice making it so that it'd be just the way you like it. And the photo is so that you can always cherish me when I'm not at your house, Light."

Light took his chopsticks and took one of the pieces of meat. He savored the flavour and heat. "You did a very good job, Tadomi," he praised. "I love the food, but not as much as I love you."

"Light, please call me by my first name. It's been a year now."

"Right, sorry," he chuckled. He took his chopstick and fed Ayumi a piece of meat. "I love the taste, but you always taste better."

"Light!" she giggled.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself."

"You're so flirty, Light."

After they had finished eating, it was Light's turn to share his gift. Light was sitting down in front of Ayumi.

"Tado— Ayumi," he corrected.

"Yes, Light?"

"The gift I'm about to give you is very powerful, and you can't tell anyone about it. Not even your family or closest friends. Do you understand me?"

Ayumi's eyes gleamed with excitement. What could he be giving her that's so powerful that it has to be kept secret. "Yes, Light."

Light pulled a small thing box from the inside of his shirt and handed it to her. Ayumi removed the lid, and inside was a black notebook with the word "DEATH NOTE" written in white letters.

"Light, what is..." Ayumi's eyes widen as she realized what this meant. "Light, are you—"

"Shh.." Light shushed as he covered her mouth. "Yes, I'm Kira."

Her body was going cold at the revelation. The man that she had been in love with was the killer that she and her parents were against. The one whos' downfall she was praying on. What would he do now? Would he kill her? No, he couldn't. He loved her too much. And she was also using an alias. But what if he's the first and second Kira?

"Don't be scared," he whispered. "I won't hurt you, Ayumi. Now listen carefully." He pulled out another notebook. "This is the one I use." He gestured to the notebook he gave her. "I'm giving this one to you. Together, we'll be the god and goddess of our New World."

"Light, I-I can't do this!" She looked up and was horrified to see a monster standing behind Light. She screamed.

Light's eyes went wide and she covered her mouth again. "Be quiet!" he demanded. He follows her gaze and smiles. "I see you've met Ryuk." He uncovered her mouth.

"W-who?"

"When you own a Death Note, you get a shinigami with you. They're basically your guardian."

"Right." Ayumi gave Ryuk a wry smile and hesitantly waved.

Ryuk chuckled. "You look frightened. Am I that scary lookin'?"

"Ayumi, look at me." Light pulled her face back towards him.

"Light, I can't do this." She pushed the journal back. "I'm not strong enough to take people's lives.

"But, they're criminals. They don't deserve to live anymore."

"I know, but it would wound me. I can't."

He sighed with disappointment. "I understand. But do at least one thing for me."

Ayumi looked up.

"Make a deal with your shinigami, Ahma. Tell her that you want the eyes that can see people's names and lifespan."

"What will happen if I do?"

"Don't worry. Just do it."

"Light," Ayumi sternly said.

Light chuckled. "Assertive as always. What else should I expect from you?" He smiled at her. "It'll cost you half your life."

"Light, what is wrong with you?! You want me to give half of my life away just for this?!"

"Honey, calm down."

"Don't honey me! Why would you even offer me this?!"

"Because! Because I did it too!" he confessed.

Ayumi was astonished. "...what?"

"Yes, I did it. And I want you to do it too so that we can still die together like we promised we would."

"Light, why would you do something like that?" she said with worry in her tone.

"Because I just want to clean the world of all the evil." He looked down and gave a sad smile. "But it's okay. You'll be fine with me dead, right?"

"No, Light I..." She trailed off. She loved Light dearly and truly wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. "I'll do it."

He perked up. "You will?"

Ayumi nodded and turned around. She jumped at the sight but them calmed herself down.

Ahma stared down at her. She had a skeleton body and jewels for eyes. Her neck was covered in pearls. She had earrings and wore a long white fur coat that reached her legs. Her wings were just as bony and framed with sharp teeth.

"Ahma," Ayumi shakily called out. "Make the deal with me."
