Misty
Since two houses had six bedrooms, my dad, Alana, Val, Kadia, Elias, Tori, Pat, Rowan, Tino, Preston, and I stayed in one house. Romeo, Sage, Rafe, Reese, Marty, Bailey, Ryan, River, and Michael stayed in another. Our friends and their parents stayed in another house with seven bedrooms. Aunt Virginia and her family lived in another house since it had five bedrooms. Grandma and Grandpa lived in the main house.
I got settled into my bedroom when Tino and Preston walked inside.
"How come your family has so many houses?" Tino asked me.
"Grandpa had the houses built for my dad and his siblings," I said.
"Siblings?" Tino and Preston asked me.
"My dad has two brothers besides my aunt. They're coming in for the wedding and staying with my grandparents."
"What are their names?" Preston asked.
"Thomas and Davis. Why?"
"We thought your grandparents named them after states," Tino said.
"Oh, no. Thomas and Davis were named after towns."
Tino and Preston folded their arms and cocked their heads. "What?"
I faced them and put my hand on my hip. "Grandma didn't want to forget their names. So, she named her kids after the state and its towns. Isn't that right, Nashville?" I smirked.
Tino rolled his eyes. "Never mind."
"So, what's there to do in this hick town?" Preston asked.
"Don't let my family hear you call them hicks. They'll take exception since they're mountaineers." I raised my brow.
Preston rolled his eyes.
I finished unpacking and headed downstairs with Tino and Preston. We found the adults talking to Grandma and Aunt Virginia.
"When is Thomas and Davis getting in?" Dad asked.
"Your idiot brothers are arriving in a few days. I told them the date you were arriving. They pussyfooted around and didn't get the memo." Grandma rolled her eyes.
"Thomas and Davis have always been slow," Virginia said.
"Virginia."
"Mom, you can't deny this since they were like that as kids."
"Your dad and I had hopes for them. Our hopes diminished considerably over the years."
Dad and Virginia laughed.
The screen door creaked and closed with a bang. We turned to see Grandpa Fuller looking at me. I ran toward him as he opened his arms and hugged me.
"Hey, sweet pea," Grandpa said.
"Hey, Grandpa."
He pulled away and looked me over. "You've grown."
"I haven't grown that much. I'm still short." I shrugged.
"You've grown enough. Stop getting older."
