And the plot thickens

Misty

When my dad mentioned taking a month-long vacation in West Virginia, I figured I would spend time with Tino and watch my dad marry Alana. I never imagined finding out insidious information about my grandmother. Like, who buries three people in their basement? Didn't anyone notice the pungent smell of garbage?

It reminded me of when we ventured into Banks's house. Shudders!

We sat on the porch, replaying the current events when Ryan and River joined us.

"Where have you fools been?" Preston asked.

"Dealing with an interesting phone call from Aiden last night," Ryan said.

"Wait. Aiden called you?" Tino asked.

"Yeah. He wanted us to dig up some information on someone. So we hacked a server."

"How did you manage that one?"

"We used Nana's laptop under the guise of finding things to do in West Virginia," River said.

"Cybercrime has no address where you two are concerned," Preston said.

"Screw the cybercrime. It shocks me that Aiden called you since he barely speaks to anyone," Michael said.

"Our cousin met a girl," Ryan said.

We stared at Ryan like he had two heads. Aiden Harper hasn't had a girlfriend in two years. He had one. Then, he didn't. No one knows what happened between Aiden and his ex since Aiden quit talking to everyone except Diego.

"Wait. Didn't Aiden date Claire Riley?" Michael asked.

"Isn't that the girl who died in a car accident?" River asked.

Michael nodded. "She ran a stop sign and didn't see the truck slam into her side. She died upon impact. Mom was working at the hospital the night of the accident. Uncle Deacon brought her in."

"How come Aiden never mentioned it? It's not like none of us wouldn't have supported him," Ryan said.

"Dad said Aiden wouldn't talk about the accident," Tino said.

"Okay. So we know Aiden moved on with someone new. Why did he want you to dig up dirt on someone?" Preston asked.

"Damn, Nixon. Could you be any more insensitive?" Ryan asked.

"You want to go?" Preston arched his brow.

"Who cares if Nixon is insensitive? You're asking a lot from him. Get back to your extracurricular activities that could land you in the clink," Michael said.

Ryan rolled his eyes. "Fine. Aiden wanted us to dig up dirt on his girl's sister. It seems the sister boned her sister's boyfriend and got caught. He wanted us to hack into their messages. So, we did."

"After a few of the raunchy messages, we sent the shit to Aiden. Let me tell you. The girl is no prize from the pitches we saw." River shuddered.

"The girl sent nudes?" Preston asked.

"More than you know." River screwed his face in disgust.

I glanced at Tino and shook my head. No way was I sending him raunchy pictures. He can forgo that idea. I have more self-respect than that.

"Now that we dissected Aiden's issue, can we get back to psycho granny?" Preston asked.

"Do we have to? Wasn't it bad enough that we found human bones?" River asked.

"The woman is unhinged and determined to cause problems for Nash and Maggie. So yes, we do."

While the cousins hashed out whether my grandmother was a serial killer, Tino dragged me away from them. Thank the lord. I needed a break from discussing insane grandmothers and cheating sisters.
