Misty

If you wonder why Nixon hadn't shown himself after the merge, he was biding his time, waiting for the right moment. Apparently, he decided the time was right, throwing everyone for a loop. Now, if you knew Nixon, he didn't sugarcoat anything. He told it like it was and was quite impatient. Today was no different after making his appearance last night.

We sat at the table and ate breakfast while Pat watched Preston.

Preston chewed and swallowed his food before saying something. "What?"

"I'm trying to make sense of everything."

"What's to make sense of it? I'm here and don't need a freaking audience watching me eat breakfast. Unless Tino and Misty want to throw down at the breakfast table and ruin breakfast like the good twits they are." Preston gave us a pointed glance.

"We worked out our differences," Tino said.

"Is that before or after your massive stupidity for hooking up with a brainless twit when we told you not to?"

We looked at Preston and made an O shape with our mouths.

"It wasn't me," Tino said.

"Oh? Was it your long-lost twin? I'm failing to see your logic, which you have none of."

"Preston," Elias cautioned.

Preston snapped his face to Elias. "Stay out of it. This is between Nash and me. I had to deal with his stupidity before you were a blip in your parents' radar." He turned his attention to Tino. "So, which is it? The truth or a lie?"

"The truth. It wasn't me who slept with that troll."

Preston studied Tino. "For once, you're telling the damn truth."

Tino rolled his eyes.

"Was it necessary to start problems at the breakfast table?" Val asked Preston.

"Valentine, let me give you a few details. I'm not sugar. I don't coat shit. You're not dealing with Preston but me. I don't have the patience or crayons to explain this concept."

Before Val could speak, doors slammed shut with a bang.

"Okay, settle down. We don't need World War Three breaking out at the table," my dad ordered. "Nixon, control yourself. I won't tell you again."

"Fine, but I don't like people questioning me." He shrugged while eating.

"So, this is a new development," Rowan said, trying to ease the tension and navigate her way around Nixon.

Preston lifted his gaze to Rowan as she shifted in her seat. His expression softened. "Yeah, it is, Ma. But there is nothing you need to worry about. I'll adjust." His lips curled slightly.

Rowan relaxed and smiled. Nixon always had a soft spot for his mother and Kat, who burst through the door like her ass was on fire. We looked at Kass and noticed her standing with the front door wide open.

"Is there a reason you burst in here like the world ended, Kitty Kat?" Preston smirked.

Kass's grin grew wider. "Is there a reason you're sitting there and not giving me a kiss?"

Preston didn't hesitate to get up and head straight for Kass. He crashed his lips into hers before swinging her around. Okay, no one wants to see this abomination while eating breakfast. So, we ignored their love fest and ate breakfast.

People will learn or die trying with me. I have no faith in the former, so I'll choose the latter. It doesn't take a great genius to understand me. Then again, what the hell did I expect from this bunch? They weren't dazzling.
