December 2nd

I'd like to say that i'm an independent person but when it comes to simple things I need someone with me at all times. And recently Billie has been my person.

Since our game night, Billie and I have been hanging out more and more. She comes over and we have dinner or maybe watch a movie or on occasion, we'll go for a drive. She's a busy woman though so it can be hard to find time to hang out with her sometimes.

Our schedules seems to overlap sometimes or we are both busy so she tends to come over later in the day and will sometimes stay the night. Granted it's only been about two weeks but she's slept over maybe 5 times.

Each time she does, she makes us some vegan breakfast which id have to admit is lowkey good as fuck. I don't typically get so attached to a person so quickly but Billie and I just work well together and that makes it easy to be around her.

Since its the christmas season, i'm trying to get her to come with me to get a Christmas tree and some other decorations. She's currently doing a fitting for a concert or something but im on the phone with her.

"Please just drive out with me to the Great Pines place and get a tree with me." I begged her. "Okay and what the fuck are we supposed to do with a tree? Put it on top of your Audi or my Dodge?" She sort of laughed under her breath.

"Wow I didn't peg you to be such a grinch Billie." I heard her shuffle around on the other end of the phone. "Fine fine i'll pick you up after this." A big smile crept on my face. "You're the best."

"Oh I know." I laughed and hung up the phone. Only then did I realise I had a pink tint to my cheeks and a smile plastered on my face. Weird.

After about 3 hours I see a pick up truck pull into my driveway. I peaked out the window over my sink and tried to see who was driving it. Sure enough Billie hopped out of it and walked up to my door. When I opened it she looked fed up but it didn't take her long to smile.

"Why the fuck do you have a pick up truck?" I asked her with a laugh. "We're getting a tree and neither of our cars can lug a tree so I borrowed a truck." I pursed my lips and started at her. "Don't look at me like that." She blushed and looked away.

I grabbed my keys and phone before locking the door and getting in the passenger seat.

The drive is about an hour so in the meantime we chatted about random things. After about 30 minutes she cleared her throat. "You coming to my birthday concert?" She asked. "Oh hell yeah." as if that's even a question. "Okay cool. You'll be backstage and everything. Also im having a party afterwards so you know... wear something cute."

"Oh I will don't worry about that." She shook her head and grinned.

Billie has to wear an elaborate disguise everytime we go out so even though we are just picking out a tree, she looks like she's about to rob the place. We looked at every tree and finally Billie found one that was tall and full. I have high ceilings so I needed one that would fill the space and I think this will do.

This man put it through the net thing and carried it over to the truck while I paid for it. Billie went off and took a phone call.

Eventually they got the tree on the truck and I climbed back into the passenger seat. Billie stood outside still on the phone. I couldn't hear her conversation but she looked kind of distressed. Through the rearview mirror I can see her pace around on the phone.

Finally she hangs up, takes a big breath and then gets back in the truck. She sighed as she sat down and started the car. I didn't want to ask her if she wasn't in the mood to talk about it but she seemed really upset.

After a few minutes of us driving in silence I had to ask. "You alright?" She kept her eyes glued on the road and her jaw tight. "Yeah."Her tone was tired. "You can talk to me." I didn't want to see like I was prying but i've never seen her like this before. "Its stupid."

"Your feelings aren't stupid." She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "It's just Jesse." I already didn't like that guy very much but he kept adding reasons to my list. "What happened?"

"He's mad im not spending the day with him." Shit. I will admit i've been hogging her recently but that's not all on me. Im sure he gets to see her enough.

"I'm sorry." I said even though I wasn't sorry for hanging out with her. Her eyes pierced through the side of my head. "I didn't say it was your fault." Her tone was stern but not mad.

"No I know but I mean i'm a contributing factor." She placed her hand on my knee and rubbed it. "No, it was my decision to spend my day with you. Jesse is being ridiculous."

"Well he is your boyfriend and I am kind of hogging you."

"I had a choice to hang out with him or you and I chose you. In no way is this on you." I couldn't help but feel special because of that. She chose me over her boyfriend. I looked out the window to hide my red complexion.

She turned up the music and picked up her speed a bit.

We didn't talk much after that. She kind of ignored my little comments about the landmarks we passed or the stupid commentary about the songs that were playing that she would have normally laughed at or added onto.

I didn't read too much into it though. I know she's upset and I didnt want to make it worse so I just kept my mouth shut.

Once she dropped me off and helped me bring in the tree. She told me that she had plans to go to, and she was in a time crunch so she left without much conversation.

I put up my tree and watched a christmas movie to occupy my mind a bit. She said she wasn't mad at me so I figured reading into that wouldn't help me out. so I went to bed early and didn't text her.
