-Hearing the sound of glasses being broken downstairs for the fourth night in a row woke me up out of my sleep. I looked over at my phone seeing that it was currently four in the morning making me groan and enter my password to unlock my phone.
My mother had passed away two days after Christmas and ever since my father had been drinking his life away, then when he got angry he would break the bottles by throwing them on the ground, then scream and cry afterward.
I understood his pain completely but for me, I was just numb to the entire situation. It wasn't like I didn't care, but I knew the outcome of her cancer from the beginning.
So now when I was woken up out of my sleep and unable to return back to it, I caught myself talking on the phone with Amani. Neno was always sleep, regardless of today being New Years, and Kha was always with Remi around this hour, so he was my last resort.
"Can't sleep again?" Amani asked as soon as the call connected, his camera resting on his television stand I suppose, as he focused on a video game.
His dreads were tied back into a low ponytail, showing off the fresh lining he had gotten. His eyes were red and low, indicating that he was high, which half the time he was.
"Nope," I sighed and watched him as he moved his fingers quickly on the game. "I need my own place. I get that everybody grieves differently but this is insane."
"If you need to get away go stay with a friend, or book yourself a nice little hotel." He shrugged and looked at the camera briefly before redirecting his attention back onto the game.
I'm sure that either Neno or Kha would let me stay with them but I was always self conscious when it came to asking people for things. I would rather book myself an expensive ass four nights at a hotel than ask either one of them. I don't know why my mind operated that way, but it did.
"Imma just get a hotel." I sighed and started looking up which one I wanted to stay at that was close in the area.
"You would rather spend money on a hotel than ask a friend? Or you just don't got no friends? Cause if that's the case then you could come stay with me."
I wish I would stay with a man I barely know.
"I have friends I can ask I just don't want to be a bother to anyone."
"Worst thing that they can say is no. But if you haven't asked any of them, then you should." He said while looking at the phone.
"I guess I will later today.."
"Happy New Year by the way. I'm sorry you gotta bring in your year this way." He stated.
"It's fine, I have plans later." I accidentally blurted out.
"What you got planned?"
Neno had told me to be ready by noon and dress casual yet cute, and he would come pick me up. So in all honesty, I didn't know what he had planned but I was excited for whatever it was.
And maybe after the plans he could come over my house and we could have a lil sex, just a little, teeny, bit though.
"I don't know honestly. My friend just told me to be ready by a specific time." I shrugged.
