-"Congratulations, and I hope to see you in the fall!"
I grinned as I hung up the phone, jumping up and down like a dumbass kid. I immediately went to my call log and FaceTimed Kacie. As soon as the call answered I screamed excitedly and watch her face slightly scrunch up in confusion.
"Emanuel, it is too early in the morning. Why do you have so much energy already?" She spoke in her slightly raspy morning voice.
It was extremely early in the morning on a Tuesday, to be fair she did have an entire hour before she had to wake back up for school but I didn't care. I couldn't contain this excitement.
"I got accepted into the University of Kentucky, bae."
She immediately gasped and slowly lifted up from out of her bed, "Really?!"
"Man, yes. The director of admissions just got off the phone with me. Full basketball scholarship, baby! I'm in there!" I yelled, completely disregarding the fact that everyone in my house was asleep.
"I'm so proud of you. I know that was one of the schools in your top three."
After the whole situation with the board of directors involving the marijuana I didn't know how my future was going to look with colleges. I had been suspended for majority of the season, ten games. Some schools had pulled my scholarships, I lost about two to three offers. But it was safe to say that it wasn't all over yet.
I had just been accepted into my dream school and I still had three still standing offers as a backup. I thought that the world would end when my team decided to try to ruin my career, but it didn't.
"It was my number one. That college has produced a hundred and thirty two NBA players, mama." I smiled.
"I love this for you, Neno." She stated and although her camera was only positioned to show her eyes I could tell that she was cheesing.
"I'm sorry for waking you up though. I had to tell somebody cause I was excited as hell," I laughed and starting looking around for an outfit since I was up and active already. "Gone head get yo last lil' hour of sleep."
"Okay, I'll see you in a hour. Also, can we go get some ice cream after school?"
"Of course." I responded.
"I love you." She smiled and allowed me to say it back before hanging up the phone.
I sat down on my bed scrolling through random apps before it was time for me to get ready. After doing my morning routine the odd smell of bacon filled my nostrils. It honestly gave me some sort of weird feeling of nostalgia. For breakfast every morning the house would smell like absolutely nothing. Everyone ate their own basic thing.
I dragged my feet to the kitchen seeing that my entire family was seated at the table. It was bacon laid out, scrambled eggs, waffles, and fruit.
"Come eat, before you gotta go." Essy waved me over quickly, breaking me out of the thought that I was having.
I sat down at the table slowly looking at my plate in front of me that was already made as my mother smiled at me.
