-I turned my test sheet into my Chemistry teacher, waiting nervously at her desk so that she could scan it and tell me right then and there what my grade was. This was the final exam, the final test that I would be submitting for high school. I had already completed my exams in other subjects, passing those with flying colors.
This was my last exam before I could leave and never have to enter McKinley High again. Except for the following Sunday which was graduation day, but still.
"An eighty-six. I love to see the improvement, Neno. I hope you have a great summer," My teacher smiled at me brightly.
"Thank you. You too," I smiled back, leaving out of the classroom quickly with Lani still in the back focused on her test.
I sped out of the classroom to get to my locker but immediately slowed down seeing that Kacie was on the steps outside of the chemistry room waiting on me. She hopped up once she saw that I was out of the classroom, looking at me in anticipation for my score.
"Eighty-six," I told her.
She gasped, "Congratulations, Neno! I knew that you could do it."
"Not without you." I kissed her forehead and hugged me, wrapping my arms around her waist.
If it weren't for Kacie being on my ass consistently about the class then I probably would have failed it for the third time. Even after she stopped tutoring me professionally and our romantic relationship grew, she still made sure that I studied for my tests and had my homework submitted on time. She helped me through a subject that I thought was going to beat me, and would be the reason why I was unable to graduate.
It goes without saying that Kacie made my life better in every aspect. Although we argued over petty situations, had our respective trauma and different personalities, we were still in my opinion made for one another.
Nobody could tell me otherwise.
"I can't believe that this is it," Kacie looked around the school, "Can you walk around the school with me? I don't wanna leave without knowing if Lani passed."
"Yeah, come on." I nodded and wrapped my arm around her.
Once we finished our last final we were allowed to leave or clean out or lockers if not done so already, but she wanted to stay and hear Lani's test results.
We walked through the school just like we walked through the aquarium on one of our first dates, she was pointing out a memory from almost every classroom that we passed.
"I use to eat lunch in this here everyday of freshman year," She laughed, pointing out the computer lab. "It wasn't until biology class midterm when I started talking to Khayri."
I just nodded and paid attention to everything that she was pointing out, letting her go down memory lane. I watched her happiness dim, a sudden and drastic change in her mood as we passed a staircase near the calculus classroom.
"This is where I saw Khayri crying and in shambles about Remi," She shook her head. "You think Remi gone graduate?"
"I haven't seen her in over two months. I highly doubt it," I answered honestly.
