VIVIENE LAYED IN PERCY'S BED, HER HEAD ON HIS SHOULDER AND HIS ARMS AROUND HER NECK.

The room was silent, Percy's hands in Viviene's hair, playing with it. Viviene was staring at the ceiling in her own thought, Percy's scent and hands bringing her back to the real life every few minutes.

"Are you worried?" Viviene suddenly asked." About the quest."

Percy heaved a sigh, his hands stopping in her hair. Viviene moved slightly so she'd be able to look at him.

"I am, yeah." Percy nodded,  his eyes going from Viviene to the ceiling, refusing to look at her." Who wouldn't be? The Labyrinth is a dangerous place, where people go insane." He paused." And it's not even easier when your girlfriends prophecy says she'll go insane soon."

"I'll be fine, Percy." Viviene gave a tight smile, trying to keep herself calm." We'll all be okay, right? We'll all get out alive. You'll get out alive."

Truth was, Viviene didn't quite believe her own words. She was scared, every bone in her body was shaking from the fear of loosing anyone in that Labyrinth. Just the fact Annabeth cried, the most brave friend Viviene's ever had, only made matters worse.

The two stayed quiet the rest of the night, deciding it was best to just lay in silence in their own thoughts until they fell asleep.

As soon as Percy fell asleep, Viviene woke up and left his cabin, deciding to go pack her things since they had to meet up in a few hours.

Just after dawn, the quest group met at Zeus's Fist. Viviene had packed herknapsack—thermos with nectar, baggie of ambrosia, bedroll, rope, clothes, flashlights, and lots of extra batteries. Alcippe's sword in it's ring form and the trident in it's crown form.

It was a clear morning. The fog had burned off and the sky was blue.Campers would be having their lessons today, flying pegasi and practicingarchery and scaling the lava wall. Meanwhile, Viviene and her friends could be headingunderground.

Juniper and Grover stood apart from the group. Juniper had been cryingagain, but she was trying to keep it together for Grover's sake. She keptfussing with his clothes, straightening his rasta cap and brushing goat fur offhis shirt.

Since they had no idea what we would encounter, he was dressed as a human, with the cap to hide his horns, and jeans, fake feet, and sneakers to hide his goat legs.

Chiron, Quintus, and Mrs. O'Leary stood with the other campers who'dcome to wish us well, but there was too much activity for it to feel like ahappy send-off.

A couple of tents had been set up by the rocks for guard duty. Beckendorf and his siblings were working on a line of defensive spikes and trenches.

Chiron had decided we needed to guard the Labyrinth exit atall times, just in case.

Annabeth was doing one last check on her supply pack, chatting quietly with Viviene.

When Tyson and Percy came over, both girls frowned. "Percy, you look terrible." Annabeth said.

"He killed the water fountain last night," Tyson confided.
