ARES WALKED THROUGH THE UNDERWORLD, FACE COLD. He couldn't believe he actually agreed to protect Hades' little mortal plaything.

You're probably confused.

Now, look. Hades has been having marriage problems with Persephone. They split up.

And, Hades has been a ticking time bomb ever since. So, Hermes told him to go blow some steam in the mortal world.

Apparently, blow off steam meant sleep and fall in love with a mortal who sees through the mist to Hades.

So, Hades did what he knew best.

Ran away whem things got too real.

The girl-  named Taylor Reuben- started getting attacked by monsters.

So, Hades made Ares protect her. Ares wasn't sure why he did it, honestly. It was all stupid. Hades did a stupid thing and instead of fixing it he went to Ares.

Ares was amazing in saying no to people. Except for his daughter and the woman he was still in love with.

Daphne.

When Ares looked into the mirror after Daphne died and Viviene's life shattered into a million small pieces, all Ares saw in his eyes was guilt, desperation and pain.

When he saw Hades' eyes reflecting his own, he couldn't say no.

Ares lost the love of his life because of a petty God fight. It still haunted him- and he'd never wish that for someone, not even his biggest enemies.

The door to Hades' throne room opened and Ares found him on his throne, a glass of scotch in hand. Hades looked like  the mess he ruled over- he looked dead. He looked tired.

"The minotaur is dead." Ares said, standing in front of him. "Your mortal is safe. She's with Apollo."

"Nobodies safe with Apollo." Hades gave a ppinted look. Ares smirked.

"Don't worry, Apollo is loyal to his goddess Astra." Ares told him." Now, Hermes will deliever some souls toomorow so he said he'll bring Taylor here."

"Here?" Hades repeated." Are you certain she's the safest here? Why can't she stay on Olympus with you all?"

"If Kronos finds out she's dead, Hades." Ares pointed out, crossing hos arms over his chest." We think she's safest here with you to protect her."

"Very well. I'll have Mina clean the guest room." Hades nodded, clearing his throat." Thank you, Ares."

Ares nodded, anger in his veins as he turned around. He really had to protect this girl and get nothing in return? He spent days following her amd stalking her, killing monsters and wiping her memories instead of dealing with the ongoing war against Kronos.

Daphne would have been happy. She'd call it progress.

Then an idea popped into his head.

Ares stopped.

Hades can ressurect Daphne.

"Ares?"
