" ANNABETH!" Viviene yelled.
"Shhh!" an invisible hand clamped over Viviene's mouth and wrestled her and Percy down
behind a big bronze cauldron. "You want to get us killed?"Viviene found her head and took off her Yankees cap. She shimmered into existence in front of her, scowling, her face streaked with ash and grime."Viviene, what is your problem?"
"We're going to have company!" Percy explained quickly about the monster orientation class. Her eyes widened.
"So that's what they are," she said. "Telekhines. I should've known. Andthey're making...Well, look."
They peeked over the cauldron. In the center of the platform stood four sea demons, but these were fully grown, at least eight feet tall. Their black skin glistened in the firelight as they worked, sparks flying as they took turn shammering on a long piece of glowing hot metal.
"The blade is almost complete," one said. "It needs another cooling inblood to fuse the metals."
"Aye," a second said. "It shall be even sharper than before."
"What is that?" Percy whispered, feeling Viviene squeeze his hand.
Annabeth shook her head. "They keep talking about fusing metals. I wonder—"
"They were talking about the greatest Titan weapon," Percy said. "And they...they said they made my father's trident."
"The telekhines betrayed the gods," Annabeth said. "They were practicing dark magic. I don't know what, exactly, but Zeus banished them to Tartarus."
"With Kronos." Viviene declared, gulping.
She nodded. "We have to get out—"
No sooner had she said that than the door to the classroom exploded and young telekhines came pouring out. They stumbled over each other, trying tofigure out which way to charge.
"You need to go!" Percy said." Take Viviene and go!"
"What?" Viviene yelled. "No! I'm not leaving you."
"I've got a plan. I'll distract them. You can use the metal spider—maybe it'll lead you back to Hephaestus. You have to tell him what's going on."
"But you'll be killed!"
"I'll be fine. Besides, we've got no choice."
"No, Percy!" Viviene yelled and felt her vision blur. She wasn't sure why she was crying. It was either because she couldn't leave him here or because she was angry he was trying to play heroics right now. "I'm not leaving you!"
"Vee, we need to go." Annabeth hurriedly said, a broken expression on her face.
"NO!" Viviene yelled, turning around to face Annabeth. Annabeth gulped, trying to calm her fears when she saw Viviene's red eyes." I'm not leaving him, Annabeth! Why are you fine with this stupid plan?!" She yelled, shaking her head.
Annabeth's heart broke as her best friend's body shook, her eyes red, a glare on her face. Her voice boomed through the room, her fingers twitching.
She was about to loose control.
She felt a warm hand grab her and gently turn her around.
Viviene faced Percy and her heart broke when she saw his sea green eyes, messy hair and the smile he always gave her whenever she was sad.
The smile that said 'I'm here for you.' The smile that held a promise to forever be by her side and protect her. The smile that melted her worries away.
Viviene let the tears fall down her face when the fear of never seeing him again tightly gripped at her heart, choking her.
"I- I can't, Perce." She shook her head, a sob leaving her. "Please. Don't make me leave you here."
"I'll come back to you," Percy told her, voice stern. "I'll come back to you, my golden girl."
Viviene shook her head, choking back a sob at the nicnkame.
She remebered the first time he called her that. It was two years ago- when he was comforting her after Holden's betrayal revealed itself.
"Don't cry because of me, please." Percy shook his head, his own eyes filling with tears. "I'm not worth your tears."
"Percy, " Annabeth called out, panick and sadness in her voice." we need to leave ."
Percy nodded and let go off of Viviene.
Instead of turning around to face Annabeth, Viviene pulled Percy back towards her by his shirt and pressed her lips to his.
The kiss was soft and passionate. Their lips were in sync, a perfect match. Viviene never wanted to let go of him. She wanted to grab him and run out with him and Annabeth. She didn't care about the stupid quest, she didn't care about this stupid war.
Not if it meant losing Percy.
Viviene never let go off the kiss, trying to savour him. His smell that comforted her to no ends. The way his lips kissed hers, with a softness and a bit of gentle possesivnes. She savoured the feeling of her fingers in his soft curls. She savoured his tight grip on her waist. His hot breath. The desire to never let go.
Percy pulled away gently, their foreheads touching.
"Come back to me, Perce. Please." Viviene whispered, biting back the more tears that wanted to fall. "I can't live without you."
" I'll come back." Percy whispered. "I don't brake my promises, red."
Viviene felt him press his lips to the top of her forehead quickly before letting go off her and moving a step backwards.
Viviene was too busy staring into his eyes to notice he mouthed something to Annabeth.
And then, Annabeth grabbed Viviene's hand and dragged her away from Percy.
Through the labyrinth the two best friends ran, hand in hand, tears in their eyes. It felt like eternety.
As Annabeth pressed her palm on the mark and the exit to the labyrinth opened, Viviene wanted to turn back and run to Percy.
She didn't. Instead, she let Annabeth pull her out.
Viviene and Annabeth found themselves back at camp, in the woods.
The door was slowly closing, and suddenly, an explosion broke out, echoing through the labyrinth all the way to camp half blood.
