Chapter threeee lezgoooo! 🎉🎉👏

I awoke with a slight gasp, disoriented and trembling. The heart monitor's persistent beeping echoed in my ears, a stark reminder of where I was-alone in a small, sterile hospital room. The smell of antiseptic hung heavy in the air, and my head throbbed with a dull ache. Each movement felt like a monumental effort, the stiff hospital sheets rustling beneath me.
Slowly, I opened my eyes to the harsh glare of artificial light above. The room was clinical and impersonal, with only the essential medical equipment surrounding me. The heart monitor beeped rhythmically beside the bed, its green lines tracing the steady beat of my heart.
My thoughts were a jumble of fragmented memories-the earthquake, the chaos, and the creatures. Those horrifying beasts that had erupted from the ground, roaring and snarling as they unleashed chaos upon us all.
I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my side, forcing me back down. The hospital room felt suffocating, the silence broken only by the incessant beeping of the heart monitor. I needed answers.
Where was I? How had I ended up here?
The door creaked open, and a nurse entered, breaking the oppressive silence. She was middle-aged, with kind eyes that held a hint of sympathy. She checked the readings on the heart monitor before turning her attention to me.
"Good to see you awake," she said gently, adjusting something on the IV drip beside the bed. "How are you feeling?"
"Thirsty... and sore," I managed to croak out, my voice barely above a whisper.
The nurse nodded understandingly "I'll get you some water. The doctor will be by soon to check on you."
As she left, I let out a shaky breath, trying to calm my racing thoughts. The memories of the earthquake and its aftermath flooded back-the car swerving, the creatures emerging, and then darkness.
How had I survived?
The door opened again, this time revealing Palina and Stephen. Relief flooded their faces as they rushed to my side when they saw me awake.
"Palina, Stephen," I breathed, my voice still weak "What happened?"
"We were in an accident," Palina explained, her eyes filled with residual fear "During the earthquake-W-We barely made it out alive!"
Stephen nodded, his expression grave "Alejandra found us. She and her associates-they... they-they did some things- transfor-!!" She paused and took a shaky breath "They knew how to fight those things. They brought us here, to this mansion."
"Mansion?" I echoed, confusion and suspicion creeping in "Who are these people? How do they know about...how to fight those creatures?"
Palina exchanged a glance with Stephen, a silent conversation passing between them "They saved us, Jules," Palina said softly, her hand squeezing mine. "They brought us here to keep us safe."
"And you're safe now," Stephen added, his voice tinged with exhaustion "You need to rest. You've been through a lot."
I nodded slowly, trying to process everything. Despite my unease about these mysterious rescuers, they had saved us from certain death. The mansion's own medical facility, the businesslike demeanor of Alejandra and the rest of the associates-it all added to my suspicion. But for now, I needed to focus on recovering and finding Adelin.
"What about Adelin?" I asked urgently, my heart clenching at the thought of my son still out there!
"They told us he's safe," Palina reassured me, her voice trembling with emotion "He's with the other children from his school, being looked after until it's safe to leave."
