In Every Life, It's Still You (pt.1) [Macaque]

Requested by Treebranches24 on a03: Macaque x fem!reader. In a past life, Macaque had been close with the reader, who was a part demon and was in love with him secretly. When she confessed, he claims to only view her as a friend, to which she says she only told him just so he'd know. However, this is because she realized that she's going to die very soon and just wanted to tell him the truth and nothing more. Later, the reader gets killed in front of Macaque in a freak accident where a bolt of lightning struck her down, causing him to realize he did return her feelings but was too late to tell her, to his horrified grief. In the present time, Macaque had reunited with the reader's reincarnation (now human), who has no memory of him or her love for him, which he takes as an opportunity to restart their relationship from the ground up. Along the way, she recovers her old powers, but after the battle with Azure, she goes comatose from overusing them. She remains in a coma for a month, during which Macaque stayed by her side refusing to budge, growing increasingly desperate the longer she slept. The only reason she ends up waking up is because Macaque, terrified that he'll lose her again, makes a teary heartfelt declaration of love to her, even admitting that he's always loved her and only her since her previous life and his biggest regret was not telling her before. Upon waking up, she asked if he really meant it. He tells her he meant every word, almost too overjoyed to even speak, when she confesses to loving him back, despite not remembering him at all from her previous life, but she still loves him all the same. Now overwhelmed with joy from her waking up and returning his feelings, he kisses her, not caring that she's still in a hospital bed and she only had enough energy to kiss him back.

(Long request short, basically Macaque fails to reciprocate reader's love in her previous life on time and does it when reader is in the next life while she is comatose after a battle)

Also, I'm adding in that Macaque basically takes the reader for granted until she's GONE, MUAHAHAHAHA

"Macaque! Wake up!"

His eyes shot open, in a familiar place with a familiar face hovering over him.

"Y/N? What are you doing out here?" He scratched his head, vaguely remembering that he ventured to this spot all by himself.

"Uh, doy, I was able to find you because of my awesome demon powers! Also, I wanna do something, I'm bored!" You dragged out, exaggerating just how bored you were. You gave Macaque a playful pout, jutting out your bottom lip and looking at him with doe eyes.

"Well, I'm trying to relax, so go bother Wukong or Azure, I'm sure they'd love to cause some mayhem." He basically shooed you off, leaning back against the tree you so callously awoke him from.

You frowned, feeling guilty for bothering your best friend... your crush.

"Well, can we at least talk later? I need to tell you something, but it can wait if you want to have some 'me-time.' " You air-quoted.

He looked up at you, clearly whatever you wanted to talk about was serious because you were avoiding his gaze, and usually you're always making eye contact with him, it didn't sit right with him, and usually nothing uneased him.

"Sure, same place?" He suggested with a small smirk, referencing to your typical meetup spot where the others don't know about, not even Wukong, his closest sworn brother.

You smiled weakly, "Of course!"

And with that, you teleported away to gods know where.

Macaque was unable to go back to sleep after that. He doesn't like showing it, but he hates when you're upset or even mad. It's 10 times worse if you're upset or mad with him.
