The first rays of dawn filtered through the heavy curtains of the bedroom, casting a soft glow over the room. Manjiro and Den lay intertwined beneath the sheets, the tension of the previous days seemingly melted away by the intimacy they had shared the night before. The warmth of their embrace was a testament to their renewed commitment, a silent promise to face the looming challenges together.
Den stirred first, her eyes slowly fluttering open as she felt the steady rhythm of Manjiro's heartbeat beneath her hand. She shifted slightly, causing Manjiro to wake as well. He tightened his arms around her, pulling her closer.
"Hi there beautiful..." he murmured, his voice still husky from sleep.
Den chuckled, "Hello handsome~" Den replied playfully, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Last night..."
"Was everything," Manjiro finished, brushing a kiss against her forehead. Den then slightly smacked the man on the chest out of embarrassment which earned a laugh from Manjiro.
Manjiro then hugged the woman tightly. They lay there for a moment longer, savouring the peace before the storm.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and their daughter Emma bounded into the room with all the energy of a five-year-old. She clambered onto the bed, her wide eyes filled with curiosity.
"Good mor---! Huh? What happened to Mommy and Daddy?" she asked, her innocent gaze darting between them.
Before either could answer, Koko and Sanzu appeared in the doorway, looking apologetic and not knowing where to look. Koko stepped forward, gently scooping Emma into his arms. "Sorry about that," he said, glancing at the dishevelled state of the bed and the obvious intimacy between the couple. "Emma was just excited to see you both."
'What's this Deja Vu?' Koko thought.
"Mommy and Daddy were just... talking things out," Den explained, a blush creeping up her cheeks.
"Talking? In bed?" Emma tilted her head, clearly confused.
"Yes, sweetie, sometimes grown-ups need to talk in bed," Manjiro said with a chuckle, trying to keep the explanation simple.
Sanzu ruffled Emma's hair. "How about we get you some breakfast while your Mommy and Daddy finish talking, okay?" For the last time, the man's eyes linger on the woman one last time as if he has this one last resolved in his mind.
