Warm brown eyes turned to her earnestly. "What have you thought of me as?"

Leo waited for her to say something anything but Paige never said a word instead she turned her face to the other side biting her lips.

"I can't really say."

After hearing that Leo's face turned dark, but he didn't pressurize her. He only hoped she wasn't one of those who only saw what was on the outside.

He had thought she was different. Maybe he was wrong.

Bittered, he pulled the cart to a stop by the side of the road and got down and waited for her to do the same.

Once she got down. Leo instinctively grabbed her hand into his own. Only after he had done did he realize what he had done. He stared down at her, hoping she did not notice.

However, Paige was staring straight ahead, looking stiff. Leo didn't have to look at her twice to know she was very nervous.

"Paige."

She turned and stared at him with those wide baby blue eyes of hers that made her look so innocent, and Leo had the strangest notion she was holding her breath. He squeezed her shoulder gently.

"Smile." He ordered.

"Heh," she blinked. After a while, she said, "Okay, you should do the same too you have been frowning at me."

The aristocratic planes of Leo's face relaxed into a look of surprise, and Leo D'Angelo tried to remember what he had been thinking that would warrant him to frown at her.

When he looked up, his uncle was waving at them from a distance ahead.

Normally, for the past few months, when Leo met a woman for the first time, he usually skipped the conversation for sex, and after sex was another round of sex.

Having to do it the other way round felt strange and different to Leo, but a good kind of different.

Being with a woman who sex wasn't the only thing she had to offer felt nice.

Leo stole a glance at his fake fiancée, right before he took her to where his uncle and father were standing. Their golf bag sitting at their foot.

"Uncle, Father." The duo nodded their heads in silent acknowledgment and stared at Paige and Leonardo. "I hope you remember my fiancée Paige," Leo said bringing Paige to his front.

"Ah, the one who stole your heart."

Leo was speechless after hearing that statement and didn't know how to respond. He was getting tired of all the cooing. Why did everything have to end with, "Ah, the one that stole your heart? Ah, what a loving couple."

If he was feeling this uncomfortable from all the cooing, he could only imagine what Paige was going through. The woman was only here to help him out, and the last thing he wanted was for her to feel uncomfortable. Leo frowned, then remembering his uncle and father were watching said in a low tone. "Yes, you can say that."

Looking down at Paige, he squeezed her hand a little, and she smiled too. "Once again it's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. D'Angelo and Uncle Stefano."

Carlo stared at Paige with interest. His expression showing he had her on his mind. "If you are still interested in seeing the book collection we talked about I will send someone for you. Or you can ask my son to bring you to the library."

"Yes, that will be lovely." Paige's face broke into a smile and Leo could feel whatever anxiety that had been holding her back was gradually seeping away. He released a sigh of relief. Letting his hand fall to the side.

His father and uncle stepped forward, walking toward the opposite side and signaled for him to follow. Leo had already taken two steps when he remembered he hadn't only come for the golf course, they had also come to talk business, aside from that he had told Paige he would teach her how to play golf. He had promised to be by her side.

Now he would have to leave her, he felt like the worst sort of man.

"Paige I..." He paused and turned to her. She was staring at him expectantly with an enchanted little smile on her lips. Leo was lost for words.

How should he say this?

His heart was breaking at what he was about to do, and he was still trying to figure out what to say when all of a sudden she broke into a laugh.

In all the months Leo has known Paige, he had never seen her like this before.

Her baby blue eyes sparkled, her cheeks were flushed and her lips curled up slightly. Leo waited for her to quit laughing, but all she did was laugh, however when she saw his strange look, she made one more attempt of stopping herself from laughing by tapping her chest repeatedly and muttered.

"Don't tell me you are torn between staying with me and going with your family." She rose on her tiptoe and came close to his ear.

What she did wasn't exactly flirting, Leo had had many women come close to him like this before but for some strange reasons, he felt the hair at the back of his neck rise and his heart race.

And Leo who had caused many an emotion in several women found himself on the opposite side of the fence as he felt his big body stiffen. He could smell her this close.

"Or don't you want the company again," she breathed into his ear.

When she lowered on her feet. Leo's eyes sparkled, and he stared at her in wonder.

This woman, hadn't she been scared of coming here before. Now she... who was she?

Paige wasn't just saving his ass in the office now she was saving his ass here too?

His lips curved into a smile, and he told himself he had been worried about nothing. His assistant can handle anything wasn't that why he liked her. He stopped after that thought and frowned. Paige had been talking to him, but because of his momentary absent-mindedness in his thought, he did not hear her.

When he pulled himself away from his thoughts, he heard.

"Besides, I can have fun getting to know the other side of your family."

The other side of his family? With Rosa there, he wasn't sure about that, and he was forced to ask. "Are you sure?"

"Of course yes, I don't why, but I feel like I can come out of anything victorious."

Leo smiled at her exaggeration, his lips curling softly. "Very well." And left her there. On his way, he turned not once, not twice, but three times to glance at her before he picked up his golf bag from the ground and went to where his father and uncle were.

Recently he didn't know why, but he was always getting worried about his assistant. Even though on the outside he might look like an arrogant and wayward playboy who wanted nothing other than a one-night stand.

On the inside, he was a principled man with a good heart, though he rarely showed this side to everyone.

And for some strange reasons, he felt that Paige had unlocked this compassionate side of him and that was why he was always worried about her.

Or was it because he cared more than he wished to admit?
