To an extent, her reasoning made sense and Paige almost considered it. What was she doing hankering after a man who would never have noticed her had he not needed her as a fake fiancée.

'He was not capable of loving?' Well, she wasn't sure about that one. She had heard of his past relationships but has never seen Leo in any relationship before.

At that moment Paige was wavering with uncertainty and would have believed Rosa had she not seen that secret smile people gave to themselves when they were proud of something they have done. And she remembered how Leo had complained bitterly about Rosa and told her if possible never to make herself appear alone with Rosa.

At the time she had thought he was exaggerating, but now she knew he was right. Rosa was a pain in the ass.
In just a few minutes she had practically turned her heart inside out with her ugly words.

For some strange reasons Rosa was trying to send her back to California and when that happens Leo's plan would shatter, and he was fiercely depending on her.

"Well?"

Paige looked up into the eyes of the woman who now wore victory on her face and her face hardened with determination and feminine survival instinct. It was time to turn the table around.

"You say Leo doesn't love me, and he is not capable of love. Are sure about that?" Paige raised a brow. "Then why did he move heaven and earth to get me this ring. Paige raised her hand and the big diamond sparkled. Paige knew she was exaggerating, but she felt a deep intention from that woman to hurt not just her but Leo too.

Even though the fake engagement had been to make his parents believe he had changed. There were times Leo had held her and looked at her that Paige found herself thinking of what he would be like if he fell in love. The attentiveness he gave. And the way he stared as though he wouldn't be bothered to look at anyone when she was there.

"Pttf It's just a ring." Rosa scoffed.

"It's not just a ring it's a token of his love for me, and it took him several weeks just to have this one made."

"That doesn't mean a thing. If anything it means he wanted the engagement more."

"Are you sure about that?" Paige's baby blue eyes sparked with a peculiar depth in them, and she wanted to make

Rosa suffer as she had suffered. She was like an actress on stage, and she roped Rosa in her fantasy. When she finished Rosa's expression was not good. And she could see that doubts were beginning to set in. Her face was like a lake which has been stirred by a gentle breeze rippling and then becoming calm once again.

Paige gave her no mercy and asked. "Do you want me to continue?" Her tone suggesting that there was something more to be revealed.

At that point, because of all the things Paige had fabricated and the extent to which she had painted her picture Rosa didn't have a hard time imagining it. And it irritated the brunette to the core. At that moment her expression suggested that if Paige wanted to fart she could go ahead and do so.

"Or Should I tell you how he proposed?" But that question was like a forbidden fruit which Rosa dare not reach for. But she wanted to. She turned her head towards Paige inpatient to bear the rest of the story.

Paige laughed and stroked the ring on her finger stalling the time. She could feel Rosa's impatience climbing, her face which normally gave her a younger look had gone tight that her real age had to appear on her face.
And of course just as she was reaching her limit Paige stopped at the right time to say.

"He flew me to an island, just the two of us, and wooed me for complete three days before he finally popped the question." When she finished she let her lips curl up and squinted her eyes. "Does that still look like a man who is not capable of love?"

Rosa had nothing to say. Her face had gone ugly. She pushed Paige's shoulder with hers. "Don't come running to me when it comes crashing down." And then she left.
Paige let out a low whoosh of air from her mouth before she let a smile grace her face. Then she scratched her head and laughed out loud. Hehe that wasn't so bad, look how her anxiety had dissipated after defeating Rosa. She should try doing this more often.
So happy was she that she took out her phone and texted Naomi.

"I just killed a big bad wolf."

"Which one."

"Rosa, Leo's sister."

Naomi's reply came almost immediately. "Woah! That's my girl! I'm so proud of you. I can die now with a happy smile on my face. That's right don't let anyone step all over you. You hear me anyone."

Paige laughed and was about to type in a reply. When another message popped up on her phone screen.

"Oh I wish I was there to see this, was your boss also there?"

Paige shook her head. Remembering Naomi cannot see her she typed in, "No."

"Uhhh that's too bad I wish he was there to see how strong you are, so he can fall in love with you."

Paige read that with a smile on her face and typed in. "I wish."And was about to put her phone into her pocket when she heard.

"I like the way you fended off Rosa. It was about time someone gave her a run for her money."
Paige put her phone in her pocket and turned and met a pair of penetrating brown eyes and frowned, then she looked at the man closely.

Her first thought was that if she wasn't already in love with Leo she would have quickly fallen in love with him.

He was a big man with a face full of neatly trimmed stubble. And his eyes had the oddest expression in them which seems to be exuding a sexual attractiveness.

Though he appeared aloof and detached. It didn't deter the fact he was extremely handsome in his own way. With a wild and untamed look about him.
Realizing she had been ogling the man without saying a word. Paige put forward her hand. "I'm Paige Compton, Leo's fiancée."

"I know who you are," he drawled out lazily. His eyes seeming to take her in at once. "I just didn't think Leo would find a fiancée in that short amount of time let alone one who is as pretty as you are."

Paige had already started to smile that he called her pretty when her brain registered the first words he said and her eyes shot up to him in panic.
What did he mean by he was impressed? Who was he and what did he know.
