Paige hurried across the busy road to the other side where her boss's car was parked. Her heels clicking hard on the road, and opened the door stepping inside.
Her boss was looking out the window. At her presence he turned his head to look at her, and Paige presented her best smile. She still didn't know what Leonardo was doing here, at her apartment.
After that night in Montepulciano they had sex, Leo had brought her an after pill which she took. They didn't discuss their mad, passionate sex. Neither did they discuss the condom breaking. It was as if those two things didn't happen.
And the next few days, Leo was completely thrown into work, Paige barely saw him.
His family was trying to land an european investor which meant all hands on deck was required. And knowing Leo and how much he wanted the company, he put in more effort than was required. Which meant he left early in the morning and returned late at night.
Their path barely crossed, but the little times it did, it was either he was exhausted from working all day and was napping somewhere in the house. Or she was chanced to see him driving off to work early in the morning.
During those days, Paige had felt lonesome, and restless, wanting him, needing him in several ways she couldn't explain. Though that wasn't something she would tell him.
It was only a few days but she had felt the impact.
Her only consolation was that sometimes she felt he sought her out when he came back at night. It showed he hadn't entirely forgotten about her. Paige wasn't sure about this, but she could swear at night, when she had gone to bed after waiting up on him, she could feel someone looming over her in the dark.
Usually she was too into her sleep to stir, but she could still feel this person's presence.
And after a while a gentle kiss would be placed against her right eye. So gentle the person feared he would wake her.
Her lips brushed against by strong firm ones. And her cheek caressed.
Always, It was Leo's scent she caught.
The only problem was that when she woke in the morning she was left wondering if it was real.
Paige didn't know if it was a figment of her imagination or something she had conjured up in her mind.
It left a lasting feeling of confusion, because she couldn't decide if what had happened was real or not.
Leo smiled at her. "How was your vacation?"
"It was wonderful." Or not so wonderful. Paige's face slashed into a frown at her thought. True to Leo's words, after they returned from italy he had given her a two weeks vacation, which he paid in full as payment for helping him. Paige hadn't wanted the vacation, because it would throw them further apart, she hadn't recovered from longing for him the last few days at his family home, but Leo had vehemently insisted. And so she went, and when he did not call her, not for once. Well, she had felt rejected.
Because of the various things she was thinking. Her poor mood reflected in those three words, 'It was wonderful.' Implying the opposite.
He frowned. "You didn't enjoy it?" His handsome face fell. "I had thought you would... I thought by now you would be tired of my company, and that's why i insisted on that vacation so you would enjoy yourself, and have some time to yourself seeing how i have monop...." He trailed off.
He was frowning, as though trying to find where he had erred. Paige hadn't realized he had wanted her to have fun, that he hoped she would have fun. Oh lord how did she misunderstood that. She thought she was being cast away.
Many a times she had picked her phone to call him. But she couldn't. Her problem had always been what would she tell him? Then she worried he didn't call her. Who would have thought he was feeling guilty he had monopolized her for weeks, and wanted her to have few weeks on her own, enjoying herself away from him. His decision not to call her had been deliberate and with a good reason.
Paige chanced a look at him. Seeing the way he was looking she infused more energy into her voice. "It was wonderful. The vacation." He raised his head, and Paige continued.
"I spent half of my time in the beach, and i finished that book i was writing before i came with you to your family home." She skipped the fact she cut the trip short to go spend the remaining days with her grandma. "Then I toured around the city. There was this tour guide, he knew this interesting places, and the food..." Paige closed her eyes and sighed. Leo smiled.
Though he didn't actually believe her.
"I can see you enjoyed yourself." His voice came out low, and rough, added to the fact the way he was looking at her was smoldering hot, Paige melted."You bet i did." Her voice came out throaty, breathy. She cleared her throat.
His gaze fell on her face, and then trailed to her lips. Intense and hot
Paige became hot all over. "Tell me why you are here?" She asked in an attempt to remove the attention from herself for a while, because she suddenly couldn't control herself.
"To pick you up of course." His eyes raised to her face. He said it like it was the most natural thing in the world. Meanwhile he had never gone out of his way to bring her to work before.
"I know you are here to pick me up, but why are you doing this? We live on opposite side of the town. You didn't have to bother?"
"Can i be honest with you?" He kept his gaze on her. Paige nodded her head. Her head reeling. Why did it suddenly feel so hot in the car. She touched her shirt and unbuttoned two buttons spreading her fingers on her neck. Her legs coming together at the knee to clench tightly.
"I missed you."
"What?" She released her hand from her neck in shock. Did he just say he missed her?
Leo smiled. Leaning down he cupped her cheek, and kissed her.
And that kiss spoke volumes. Paige held his suit jacket while he devoured her mouth at a leisurely pace. Suckling her lower lips, and then her upper lips before inserting his tongue into her mouth. Paige moaned and one of his hand left her cheek to rest at her nape angling her for a deeper kiss.
Paige's grip on his suit tightened, and she dragged him closer to her. As she drank of lips. Tearing a low moan from him.
It was electrifying, the current that shot through her whole body, and so damn good because the kiss wasn't the typed that turned someone on, rather it was the type of kiss that spoke of emotions. And without doubt she believed he missed her.
"Oh God how i missed you Paige." He murmured resting his forehead on hers. His eyes closed.
They were in the underground packing lot of their office, the black Maybach packed secludedly at one corner, Paige realized that was why he stopped.
Without knowing it a ghost of a smile appeared on her lips. "You missed me?"
He nodded his head and leaned down to crush his lips against hers murmuring something in italian she couldn't hear. And then sighing like he didn't wish to leave her.
Paige's smile grew bigger.
Leo's face was in the crook of her neck, nibbling on the soft skin there, and then he placed a kiss there when suddenly there was a knock at the door. He groaned and turned, Aaron, his driver was standing there.
Leonardo stared at Aaron through the car's window undecided about his next move, while Paige watched Leo transfixed.
She still can't believe he missed her.
Finally, with one more sigh, he stepped out of the car, helping her out and together they stepped into the high rise office building.
