Sprawled out on the chaise, Leo was still holding her and was yet to move. Then slowly he pulled Paige to her feet, only to drag her to his body once he had assumed an upright position.
Everything happened so fast it was as if Paige's brain had been invaded by a virus throwing the coding into a wild disarray. When she finally came back to her senses, Paige was face to face with the fine contours of his chest, her hands on his sleeves. She pulled at his sleeves and when he looked down at her with those dark eyes she breathed out in a slightly breathless voice, "What do you think you are doing?"
Her apprehension was obvious.
"You don't know?" That question was accompanied by a lift of his brow. "Paige, you said a man cannot woo a woman for three whole days and I said it all depends on the woman," he paused and narrowed his eyes. "Allow me to demonstrate."
He had been holding and moving her slowly in a dance, not minding there was no music.
Once Paige had gotten used to the rhymes and pattern of his movement, he said, "Close your eyes."
"What?" Paige was yet to come to terms with what he had said before, and now he wants her to close her eyes. If she was a better woman, she would have extricated herself from his arms long ago. But she was not. She was selfish, and she was deprived of his love, wanting to be in his arms a little longer. Was that too much to ask?
"Close your eyes," he murmured slowly. The words soft, caressing as a summer breeze.
With great effort, Paige closed her eyes only to hear the thumping sound of her heart so loud she feared it was the only sound around them, but she dare not open them.
She felt the heel of his palm on her neck and his long slim fingers tangling into the back of her blond curls. Paige felt a hot breath on her ear next, and before she couldcomprehend what was happening she heard, "Imagine we are on an island alone. Just the two of us. The cool island water, the coconut, the house behind, and the warm sand."
He paused, whether it was to allow her a moment to create a mental picture Paige didn't know, but what she did know was that she could clearly see the picture he was trying to paint."We will arrive at night with a helicopter and because you will be tired from the journey, I will run a bath for you. After that, we will have a sumptuous meal, just the two of us. Wines, meat, vegetable, dessert, locals, champagne, you name it."
He sighed into her hair as though he was there and doing all those things he mentioned, and Paige couldn't help but fall more and more in love with him. Not minding what he was saying was not real.
"After that, I will let you sleep in my arms for the night and the next day we will explore the house together, hand in hand."
As he said that he took Paige's hand and caressed it and Paige felt her body grow warm, and she yielded more into his arms.
The voice that came next was brass and harsh. "We will swim in the water, drink coconut water and recline in the sun. You see, dolcezza mia my idea of proposal will be to show you the type of life you will have with me. And of course, even though you would be there looking pretty in your bikini, your hair wet and spread out and waiting for the sun to dry you I wouldn't dare make a move on you then, because sex isn't the only thing I would want from you. I want more than just your body." His hands ran down her arm, leaving goosebumps in its wake, and Paige clinged harder to him.
"On the last day, I will send the staff away and wake you up with soft sensual music. When you stir I will be on one knee looking like, I don't know what it is I am doing because I will be nervous as hell, but that won't stop me from asking the question. Will you marry me, Paige? By then I will have already put the ring in your hand in your sleep. And as you will stare at me with indecisive eyes, I will pour out my love for you. Telling you how good we are together and why you should say yes."
His hand had left her hair to cup her cheek, and it was all Paige could do not to open her eyes and steal a kiss from him. Because she was a writer, she didn't have a hard time imagining the scene and more. Did he realize what he was doing to her? Did he realize he was crumbling her defenses bit by bit?
Now his thumb was on her cheek, gently rubbing on her with the pad of his thumb, and that his rough voice filled the air slowly this time.
"And when you say yes il mio amore I will hug you and kiss you how I longed to kiss you all those three days and proceed to worship your body with mine. Wringing screams of passion from you, and bringing you to the highest point of ecstasy again and again until the only thing on your lips will be my name."
Along the line, they had stopped dancing and Paige was holding onto his shirt tightly. Her body quivering.
"Open your eyes, Paige," he murmured softly. Paige opened her eyes and stared into his beautiful clear eyes which were looking at her in a way that suggested he wanted to read her mind her legs wobbled, and he pulled her to his body. His gaze never leaving her, if anything it was unnervingly direct.
It burned as it warmed her.
Caught in that gaze, the surrounding air became electrified. Paige sucked in a breath and held it, her eyes straying to his lips which were only a few centimeters away from her.Without knowing it, her soft plump lips had parted and her baby blue eyes had been invaded by a sultry look.
Paige's breast under her gown became heavy and the rosy tips tightened into bud. Paige was aroused but did not realize it as she was busy staring at Leo's lips in a way that suggested that if she didn't have it now, she would perish. From the sensual chiseling of his mouth, her eyes trailed to his eyes, which were staring at her with a knowing stare and had darkened to match the night.
All reasoning was lost as it seems as if an inner, suppressed Paige had come out, and she licked her lips in a move a courtesan would have envied so much.
Unconsciously, Leo's hand tightened on her arm, causing her to gasp out in yet another voice that wasn't hers but was sensual and pleasing to the ear.
Leo cursed and with a single move pulled down her blond hair and kissed her soundly on the mouth.
