The sun was high in the sky and the gentle breeze which a while ago caressed Paige's skin blew hot air on her body as she tried to stop the wild staccato in her heart.
Besides her, Rosa smiled.

Earlier today after Leo had kissed her by the side of the mouth in the hallway Paige had tried her best to forget it and to not make him know how affected she was by that kiss.

But as soon as they drove into the golf course, and Leo wrapped his arm around her and pulled her to his side for the sake of the charade. The fire in her heart had ignited and threatened to consume her, and she feared for her sanity and what she would do in that instant because she was having weird dangerous thoughts.

It was as if her dam of reasoning was breaking, and she wanted to hold him tight, rise on her tiptoe and give him an intense kiss.

So she had held her body stiff. Trying to pretend his hand was not on her waist and her side pressed to the length of his hard masculine body.

It was as if nature was playing a trick on her because it didn't stop there, he took her to his uncle and father, where his hands continued being on her body creating havoc for her and Paige couldn't complain.

In front of his family, it was paramount they maintain a semblance of being a couple, and what other way to do this than to be expressive with their gestures. In other words PDA.

However, luck did shine on her when Leo was supposed to leave with his uncle and father to discuss business, but for some strange reasons, he was worried about her.

It took everything in Paige and the vision of herself away from him and away from the sexual tension he wrecked in her to rise on her tiptoes and speak into his ears.

For someone like her who wasn't impulsive doing something like that was her only way to ensure him, she would be alright by herself. That she was that comfortable she would even dare to speak into his ears.

At last, Leo listened to her and left and Paige finally breathed a sigh of relief but who would have thought that the moment he was gone Rosa would corner her.
Ugh, this was such a mess. Paige turned to stare at the woman and

the smile on Rosa's lips stretched further. She was standing casually with her whole weight on one leg. Her golf club slung over one shoulder. And was wearing a pink visor which complimented her white golf dress.

Paige could sense this impending talk was no ordinary chit-chat between sister-in-law and wife to be.
There was malicious intent emanating from that woman, and she proved it when she came closer and gave Paige a run down from head to toe a delicious smile on her face.

"I see you are not as special as I thought you were if he left you so early to go play golf without any thoughts for your entertainment." Rosa made a face and her voice turned childlike in mockery. "Oh, little Paige is all by herself. What are we to do now?"

With great effort, Paige tried to restrain her emotions from her face. "I don't recall saying I was special or anything of that sort..."

"Read my words I said 'I thought.' But continue."
Something flickered in Paige's eyes. "Besides there is no need to cling to Leo when I am perfectly capable of entertaining myself."

"You are?" Rosa gave a cruel smile and looked beside Paige indicating there was no one by her side and she was all alone. The unspoken words hanging in the air.

Seeing that Paige sighed, "I know there is no one here, actually, I wanted to be on my own," Paige said truthfully hoping that if she brought down her defenses and spoke normally to Rosa maybe they could speak like two civilized human beings. But she was wrong because Rosa clucked her tongue.

"Tsk tsk tsk. You are such a confused little girl, aren't you? You say one thing, yet you mean another thing."

A confused frown came upon Paige's face, and she opened her mouth to ask "What do you...."

"Ah, ah, ah." Rosa stopped her sentence right in time with one hand. "I will tell you, no need to keep you guessing." She lowered her hand and looked Paige right into the eyes watching for any slight shift in expression. Her expression at that time suggested that she was getting immense pleasure rattling Paige up.

"You say you want to be on your own, yet I have seen the way you look at my brother it's as though you want to devour him."

Panic crept into Paige's eyes, and she narrowed her eyes further fighting the urge to pull her gaze away. It would give Rosa the confirmation she was looking for that she was right. But how can she know that? It Is not like she lusted after Leo all the time. It was just a one-time thing, once in a while, and she had thought she had concealed it.

While she was busy preventing Leo from noticing another person had noticed!
What was she going to do now? This was not how she wanted Leo to find out she was in love with him.

"pttf."

"Leo might be engaged with you, but he does not love you. And I can tell a girl like you value Love a lot. And what's more, it looks like you are already in love with him."

Paige held her breath, and stared at the brunette in surprise. Did she have to hit so close to home.

It was true Leo wasn't in love with her and was only in the relationship to prove to his people he was finally becoming a responsible man who was capable of commitment, but to Paige the fake engagement was a way for her to be with the man she loved. And to pretend he loved her.

However, somewhere in her mind, she always knew there was a 90 percent chance Leo wouldn't fall in love with her.

And having someone else confirm her worst fears out in the open turned her stomach inside out, and she felt sick. But she wasn't about to let Rosa know everything she said was so close to the truth.

Because of the bitter emotions, Paige was feeling, her words sounded as though they were dragged out of her when she spoke. "I don't know what you are talking about I only look at him in the same way he looks at me."

"You tell yourself that?" The brunette's eyes sparkled as though she had seen something no one else had seen.

"Then it's with great regret that I tell you this, my brother is not capable of loving... I suggest you break off the engagement and return to California. Surely you would meet someone there who is right for you. Be a wise girl and don't fight this okay."
