✾_________TEIERI KIOMI has always admired her older sister. It's nothing unusual; it happens with almost all siblings. Ever since she learned how to walk, she would trail behind Anri, trying to play with her, her little legs determined to keep up.
But as they grew, so did the distance between them. When Anri started hanging out with her friends more than her sister, Kiomi was determined to ensure she wouldn't be left behind.
Anri's love for Fujiya Country Ma'am Cookies led Kiomi to eagerly request them during every grocery trip, hoping they could share them.
Anri said she enjoyed "James Bond" movies, so Kiomi made it her mission to learn everything about them to discuss with her sister before bed.
Anri said she enjoyed watching football, so Kiomi decided to join the local club so her sister could watch her too.
Kiomi wasn't scared of anything quite as much as being left alone. After all, it did already happen when their older brother went to college in another country and made almost no effort to stay in contact with his family.
The thought of loneliness terrified her to her core, so she resolved that if she achieved anything in life, it would be to stay far away from loneliness.
So, she started with those closest to her. Betrayal hurts the most when it comes from those you love.
Anri never noticed the efforts that went into maintaining their relationship. She simply thought it was normal sibling behavior or a coincidence.
She gladly shared the cookies with her sister as they talked about their favorite movies in their room without a second thought.
She never found it strange how her little sister seemed to like everything she did. She never even stopped to think about how it couldn't be a coincidence.
It was too perfect for that.
So, when Anri decided to move away, Kiomi made sure to get into the top school near her apartment so she could live with her.
And just as Kiomi planned, Anri offered her to live with her.
Living with Anri meant leaving their parents, but Kiomi knew she would adapt. She always did.
She heard about Anri's plans to join the Japan Football Association, so she decided to find a way to follow her there too. Kiomi did some research and found out joining as medical staff would be the best course of action.
She started learning about medicine, which fascinated her. Understanding the human body and behavior became her new passion.
No wonder, since it was the first thing she pursued entirely on her own.
In her free time, she began reading about psychology too. This could either turn out to be her worst mistake or the best decision of her life.
She became painfully aware of her life, if she could even call it hers. She had completely adopted another person's dreams and passions.
In a heated moment of realization, she wanted to shed it all. She longed to take control again.
But after living fifteen years as someone else, how could she suddenly stop?
She wanted to fix everything. She started by listening to new music, exploring unfamiliar books, and watching movies she had never considered before.
And then, she quit football.
That surprised Anri.
After all, Kiomi seemed to enjoy herself on the field. Anri watched every match, delighted to see her sister's radiant smile whenever a teammate scored after Kiomi passed to them.
So, why did she quit so suddenly?
When Anri asked, all Kiomi said was she needed more time to focus on her studies. That, of course, was a lie.
Kiomi was always organized. Even on scholarship, she had time for games and hobbies. But Anri didn't need to know that.
All that mattered now was building her own life.
To keep up her lie, she immersed herself in schoolwork. Even then, she felt her body craving action, so she began doing small workouts in her room.
She quickly climbed her school's ladder, becoming the top of the class. And yet, she still wasn't satisfied.
Kiomi didn't quit medicine, it was the only reason she even realized what she was doing to herself. She just shifted her goal to becoming a doctor, nothing football-related.
It was her own choice, and it made her parents proud. Win-win, right?
This continued for another year.
Then, one day, Anri came back from work with a spark in her eyes. As they shared dinner, she talked about her day with unusual excitement, intriguing Kiomi, who listened intently to every detail.
She never stopped caring about her sister.
It was only when Anri mentioned a certain project that Kiomi paused. It was a crazy idea, with even crazier people involved. But Anri talked about it with such passion, as if her every dream was about to become reality.
The dreams that they once shared.
She told Kiomi all about the project and how she would help a guy named Ego Jinpachi guide Japan to the top of the world.
In that moment, Kiomi knew she couldn't just leave her sister in the care of a random football fanatic.
Once a dog, always a dog.
Despite everything, she couldn't change what she was.
A loyal follower of its owner.

°་༘♡ This one is simply an introduction to get familiar with the main character and her situation. It is quite short as it acts as a prologue and it's info heavy, so sorry for that.
