✾_________IT WASN'T really clear who was more confused, the cashier or Kiomi. As a staff member and an unofficial manager of two buildings in Blue Lock, Kiomi had the freedom to do as she pleased during her non-working hours. And yet, she somehow still managed to work during her free time.
Carrying at least fifteen tubes of hair gel, along with some conditioner, shampoo, and other products to refill her stock, Kiomi tried to avoid the gaze of the older woman at the cash register.
The woman scanned one tube and began counting the rest. As the number increased, so did the intensity of her stare. Kiomi just shook her head and asked for two paper bags so she could fit everything inside.
Thankfully, there were no other customers in line behind her. After completing her walk of shame out of the store, she quickly got into the car. The driver didn't utter a word, simply starting the drive back toward Blue Lock facilities.
The Blue Lock buildings were quite far from the nearest store (or anything at all, really), so it was only natural to have a driver for errands like this. Kiomi had even seen Anri use the service when she needed to move quickly between buildings.
Upon arriving at Building 4, Kiomi spotted a staff member walking down the hallway.
"Hey, excuse me. What teams are playing right now?" Kiomi asked her hurriedly.
"I think it's a match between Team X and Team Y," the young woman replied. "Why?"
"Are you busy right now?" Kiomi ignored her question and continued talking.
"I mean, I should probably—" the staff member started, but was quickly cut off.
"Perfect!" Kiomi exclaimed, feigning excitement and handing over the paper bag containing numerous tubes of hair gel. "Could you take this to Team X's locker room for me? Just put it in locker 221."
Before the confused woman could even respond, Kiomi turned around on her heel and continued on her way to her room. When she spotted her door, she noticed another box in front of it—this one being familiar.
Picking it up, she saw a note taped to the top: 'You forgot something,' signed 'Hase.' She remembered telling Anri earlier that morning that she had forgotten some player progress files in Building 3, so Anri must've arranged to have them sent over.
Kiomi brought the box into her office, setting it down on the table. The first set of papers turned out to be the results from yesterday's matches in Building 4.
"Not surprising that Team X beat Team Z," she mumbled as she turned on her laptop. "Even less surprising that Team V beat Team Y, but wow, that goal difference..."
Her curiosity piqued, Kiomi pulled up the recordings of yesterday's V vs. Y match. Less than a minute in, she spotted two familiar boys. Pulling up their profiles, she reminded herself of their names: Mikage Reo and Nagi Seishiro.
Not interested in the boring small talk between the teams, she fast-forwarded the match five minutes. What greeted her was pure chaos. Players from both sides were running around like wild animals just released from a cage after days without food. At least, that's the impression they gave.
