✾_________RUNNING AROUND the building, carrying three bags full of paperwork was not what Kiomi expected when her sister asked her to help. Nonetheless, she did it without complaint.
After filling all 300 spots, Anri immediately organized the press conference that the Chairman had ordered. It was probably in the hopes of her messing up under pressure. Kiomi guessed he thought Anri would crack simply because she was an 'incapable, beautiful decoration.'
What he didn't know was that her sister was one of the most capable people Kiomi knew—most likely more capable than the Chairman himself (which, according to Kiomi, wasn't that hard to achieve).
The Chairman was also supposed to attend, and finding him was exactly what Anri and Kiomi were trying to do. While they were going over all the information that was supposed to be disclosed to the public, he wandered off.
It didn't take them long to find him—the café being their first stop—but the heavy bags made their job much less enjoyable.
Buratsuta Hirotoshi was munching on a piece of cake while talking to two other men seated with him. It wasn't odd that he knew people here, as the building was owned by the JFU, but Anri was beyond speechless at the fact that the press conference was about to start in 15 minutes, and here he was, enjoying himself.
Ignoring her boiling anger, Anri approached the Chairman with a sweet smile—the kind Kiomi had only seen when Anri found out her cookies were stolen.
"Mr. Chairman, I'm extremely sorry to interrupt your conversation, but the press conference you are required to attend starts in less than 15 minutes," Anri informed him in a sickly sweet tone, not raising her voice even a little.
The man stood up with a heavy sigh, rattling off a list of excuses to the people at the table as he began walking in front of Anri and Kiomi toward the event hall.
Stalling behind, Kiomi tugged at the long sleeve of Anri's blazer, slowing her down enough so the Chairman couldn't hear their conversation—not that he would care to listen anyway.
"Why on Earth are you tolerating his behavior?" Her question came out a bit obnoxious, but Anri could hear the concern in her voice.
"Oh, don't worry about me. I just can't have him messing the conference up on purpose," Anri replied with an honest smile, squeezing her sister's shoulder.
Kiomi nodded slightly, letting go of the sleeve and following behind once again. By the time they arrived, it was already time for the Chairman and Anri to step out and greet the press.
Quickly taking out the correct papers from the bags and handing them to Anri, Kiomi collapsed into a chair backstage. It was only noon, but she had already walked much more than usual.
'I really am getting out of shape,' she thought to herself as she sat up straighter and looked around the room. There were a few other employees, mostly in their mid-thirties, Kiomi guessed. Some of them shot her odd looks the moment Anri left the room.
One of them even commented how "Employees shouldn't be allowed to bring their kids to work." Kiomi ignored them with ease, but a problem presented itself anyway: she couldn't clearly hear or see how the conference was going from backstage.
Grabbing the bag with her valuables, she left the room and started walking through the halls, trying to find either a way to watch the conference or something that piqued her interest.
