"I know, don't worry," Hina answered as her face appeared on Kiomi's phone, covered in a purple face mask with a few missed spots.

"You missed the space under your left eye," Kiomi mumbled, noticing her friend's confused expression.

"Oh, you don't have the right to just call me like that and say I didn't put my face mask on correctly after disappearing for a week!" yelled the frustrated blonde, hastily trying to fix the spot she missed.

"Sorry," was all Kiomi managed to say. It wasn't right of her; she was aware. But she just needed a break from social media and had forgotten to tell Hina she'd be going online for the rest of the school year before disappearing.

"Oh, and that's the wrong eye. I forgot the camera is flipped," she added sheepishly.

"Damn you," cursed Hina, furiously wiping under both of her eyes, doing more damage than good.

"But seriously, what's going on? I was so worried about you that I even sent a message to your big sister—and you know how I am with people I'm not fully comfortable with," Hina continued, her questioning tone back after confirming with Kiomi that her mask was now properly applied.

"And I found out about the online classes from Miss Anri, so you can get straight to the point."

"I don't know how to explain it any differently, so I'll just be as blunt as ever," Kiomi began after a few beats of silence. "I'm going to be working for a sadistic sociopath for a some time in a football version of Fortnite."

The call went silent. Kiomi closed her eyes, bracing for the inevitable.

"What the actual hell?! First of all, you leave me here, alone, with these absolute buffoons of classmates, and then you decide to replace me with some random psycho?" There it was.

"And didn't you have a whole speech ready about how much you hate football every time I mentioned it not too long ago?" Hina loved Kiomi, she really did. But sometimes, even she couldn't understand what was going on in that head of hers.

"Never said I hated it," Kiomi replied with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!!" Hina screamed, her voice cracking.

Kiomi looked at her screen again as she heard the door open in Hina's room.

"Look, you even got Kuma to check on you," laughed Kiomi as she saw the golden retriever entering her friend's room.

Hina's attitude did a complete 180 as she heard her dog's name. She quickly spun in her chair, facing the door as she cooed at her fluffy companion.

"Oh, look who's worried about me! What a good boy," she praised him, while Kuma simply made his way to the middle of the room and plopped down lazily, seeing his owner was in no trouble.

"You really shouldn't worry the poor dog like that," Kiomi said, shaking her head at her best friend's behavior.

"You're the one worrying me! And you've got some explaining to do now. No excuses," yelled Hina, spinning in her chair as she tried to face the camera again.

"You're out of the frame," Kiomi pointed out.

"Ugh," groaned Hina as she shifted to the side, trying to get back into view of her phone's camera. "Now?"
