Shattered

Chapter 8

After about an hour Sonic calmed down and they started walking to the lab. This didn't bother Shadow one bit knowing Sonic needed time after telling everything that happened. His life changed in a negative way for a year. Shadow can relate from his experience on the ARK. "I'll do whatever it takes to help Sonic through this."

As they walk into the lab Shadow gets his friend's attention. "Hey Molly" "Hey Shadow perfect timing. I have the MRI set up for you and I did check the pills you brought with you. They are safe for Sonic whenever you're both ready to have a baby." Sonic stayed quiet as they were talking. He felt anxious about the MRI scan while staring at the machine.

"You ready love?" He looks up at his boyfriend and nods his head. "W-will you be able to stay with me?" "Of course I will. Even during your surgery I won't leave your side." Shadow gives him a kiss on the head and helps him get prepared for the MRI scan. "Place your hands above your head and try to relax." Sonic does what he's told and then feels his boyfriend's hands holding his. "Alright Molly we're ready." The machine starts and he tries to stay relaxed feeling Shadow stroke his thumbs against his hands.

The scan only lasted five minutes and he was done. "That...actually wasn't so bad." He smiled seeing his boyfriend feeling a little better. "Hey Shadow? You might want to come see this." He helps Sonic up and then they go to Molly's office to see what the x-ray shows. "What is it Molly?" "Sonic is extremely lucky...the bullet completely missed everything." They were both just as surprised as her to see where the bullet was located. It was half way in Sonic's torso missing all his organs and arteries. The bullet itself did catch Shadow's attention. "Hey Molly...does that bullet look familiar to you?" "Maybe but we won't know for sure until we get it out of him."

As they were making arrangements for the surgery Sonic was lost in thought. "How am I lucky? I lost everything in one day...then again it has improved since Shadow found me. My sister may not be around anymore but...she would've wanted to see me happy with him. I know Sonia and Maria are looking down at us." He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard his boyfriend ask him a question. "You ready to go love?" Sonic looks up at him and nods his head.

Shadow grabs Sonic's pills and they leave going to his car. "Your surgery is next week if that works for you. She needs time to prepare for it and I will be with you the whole time." "T-that's fine love." Shadow thought it was the right time to show Sonic something. "I want to take you somewhere before we head home and don't worry it's a private location." Sonic looked at him confused. "W-where?" "It's a surprise." He smiles holding Sonic's hand and drives off knowing exactly where he was going.

After about a ten minute drive they arrived at their location. Shadow got out of the car and Sonic followed him. They held hands walking to a cliff that had two headstones. As they got closer Sonic noticed the names and his eyes grew wide in shock. One had the name Maria which was Shadow's sister and the other had the name Sonia...Sonic's sister. "H-how? I thought they buried her in the local cemetery." Shadow smiled wrapping his arm around his boyfriend's waist. "I asked them personally if we can bury her here instead and to keep it private. Nobody knows except for us." Tears started to fall and he hugged Shadow tightly. "Thank you so much!" "You're welcome" He hugs back gently lifting his head and they kiss on the lips. "I love you Shadow" "I love you too Sonic" They stayed there for a few more minutes and then started heading home.
