Shattered

Chapter 7

It's the morning of the interrogation and Shadow can tell Sonic is really nervous. They get out of the car going into HQ. As they go inside Shadow sees Richard and they greet each other by nodding their heads to each other. "Sonic I would like to introduce you to Richard. He is our new commander that took over after Towers passed." "N-nice to meet you..." Shadow gently rubbed his back to help him relax. "The pleasure is all mine. You are safe here and under our protection as Shadow requested." Sonic slowly nods his head understanding what he said.

Shadow hands Richard a folder he was carrying. "This has everything from when I found him and notes Eggman instructed him to give me. The five missing chaos emeralds and the three medallions are safe at my house." He reaches into his pocket pulling out a bottle of pills. "Eggman made these so Sonic is able to produce children naturally and there's notes about them in the folder. I need them tested to be sure they are safe." "Not a problem. I'll have Molly look over the notes and check the pills for you." Richard takes the file to his office and drops off the pills with the notes about them to the lab before meeting Sonic and Shadow in the interrogation room.

Meanwhile Shadow was explaining everything to Sonic to help him feel less tense. "I-I hope I don't screw this up." "You won't Sonic. All you have to do is tell me everything I need to know." He hugs him tight to reassure everything will be okay. Once Sonic was more relaxed Shadow gets him seated. Richard comes in and gets the camera ready. They were sitting across from each other holding hands while they were waiting. "You feeling okay?" Sonic nods his head. "I want to get this over with. I kept it inside for too long." Shadow gives him a kiss on the head and checks on Richard. "Ready whenever you are."

Sonic was prepared when Shadow came in closing the door behind him. He's aware Shadow's going to act professional instead of his boyfriend for the next few minutes. Shadow sits down across from him and can tell by the look in his eyes he's ready. "Alright Sonic let's start from the beginning. Can you explain to me what Sonia's relationship with Bartleby Montclair was like?"

"They met at a ball he was hosting at the time. After dating for about a year they were already engaged. Not long after the engagement is when Manic left the band for his old life and never speaking to us again. Sonia broke off the relationship six months after they got engaged cause she found out Bartleby was sleeping with other girls just cause she wasn't ready to lose her virginity yet. I stepped in as her brother letting her move in with me and helped her back on her feet. From what I heard he wasn't happy that she found out and left him. A month later I went to Eggman's lab for his final experiment before he retired for good. I stayed with him for two months and the experiment was a success. Three months turned into six months and then we heard from Bartleby again out of nowhere. The day they would've been dating for two years."

Shadow can tell Sonic is feeling tense remembering everything. "I hate to ask but...can you tell me what happened?" Sonic took a couple deep breaths before responding. "It started off as a normal day like any other. We were talking and figuring out what our plans were for the day if we had any. That is until we heard a knock on the door. We weren't expecting anybody and when Sonia opened the door...Bartleby was standing there with his hands behind his back." There was a look of fear in Sonic's eyes and Shadow nodded his head to continue. "I stepped in between them to protect Sonia. He begged and pleaded for her to take him back and she kept saying no. It lasted for about five minutes...until he snapped. When he pulled the gun on us I didn't move. I did whatever I could to keep her safe. We got into a physical fight and I gave it everything I had to protect her until he shoved me into a wall...and then he shot me in the torso."

He closed his eyes tears starting to form remembering the gunshots and Sonia screaming. When he opened his eyes he continued. "After I slid to the floor laying on my back he pointed the gun at my sister. She tried to ask him why he's doing this. All he said was 'if I can't have you...then no one can' and he shot her in the heart. She died before she hit the floor. I was laying there feeling scared and waiting for him to finish me off...but he didn't. He was staring at her corpse and pointed the gun to his head. His final words were 'and now we will be together...forever' and he pulled the trigger." He swallowed a lump in his throat before continuing.

"I couldn't move cause of the pain from the gunshot. It felt like eternity before I heard sirens coming towards us. Thinking the neighbors called for help possibly hearing everything I started screaming for help so they knew I was still alive." He quickly wiped away any tears that started to fall. "They took me to the hospital so I can get treated for my wound. That's when my life started to shatter. The doctor I had was careless and despised me for not being able to save Sonia. He had me strapped down to the bed so I couldn't move and gause shoved in my mouth so I couldn't scream. I felt everything when he stapled my wound shut and I don't think he even removed the bullet. I guess I passed out from the pain cause when I woke up they already took everything off of me as if it didn't happen and discharged me without any pain meds. Nobody even cared that I was limping as I walked out of the hospital."

Sonic tried so hard not to break down until he finished saying everything he needed to. "At Sonia's funeral I left with Manic thinking he was the only one that still cared about me...I realized later on that I made the wrong decision. Everything was fine the first couple weeks until Scourge started coming over with him. They were dating for a long time so I didn't think much about it at first...that's when I realized he despised me like everyone else. He started abusing me every day and I would never eat anymore. I locked myself in my room in fear of getting raped even though there was no attempts. Cutting and smoking became a habit and the pain from the gunshot was still there. I pulled the staples out myself which wasn't fun. After being there for about a year before I finally escaped and ran as far as I could."

"That's when you got in contact with me and I saved you." Sonic slowly nodded his head finally letting his tears fall and he started whimpering from the pain in his stomach not hiding it this time. On alert Shadow got up seeing his boyfriend hurting. He carefully picked him up sitting down in his chair and set him down on his lap. Sonic was sobbing in his arms and burying his face in Shadow's chest fur. "I-I'm sorry I didn't tell you about my pain or the bullet." "It's okay Sonic. I understand you had your reason. Now that we know the next thing we'll do is arrange to get the bullet removed. My friend Molly who works in the lab is the only one I'll trust to do your surgery." He gave Sonic a kiss on the head and gently stroked his back to help him calm down.
