Shattered

Chapter 6

The next morning Sonic starts waking up as Shadow comes into the bedroom. "Good morning love. I got us breakfast while you were sleeping." Sonic slowly sits up rubbing his eyes a bit and Shadow sits next to him giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I got us coffee and cinnamon rolls. I hope that's okay." "Cinnamon rolls are my favorite." Shadow was surprised to hear that as he gave him his breakfast. "I thought chilidogs are your favorite?" "I actually haven't had any in a long time. Sonia and I used to make cinnamon rolls almost every morning for breakfast and have it with coffee. She did allow me to have chilidogs sometimes but wanted me to eat other things too. After the incident I quit eating all together. Mainly cause of that fear that Scourge and Manic are going to poison me or drug me." It made Shadow fully understand why Sonic was so hesitant with him in the beginning. "I did talk to my commander and he said we can arrange your interrogation for tomorrow if you'd like." Sonic nodded his head agreeing with the idea so Shadow texted Richard to let him know they'll do the interrogation tomorrow.

After they finished eating Shadow felt Sonic move closer to him and lay his head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around Sonic's waist making sure he's comfortable. "You're the best boyfriend I could ever ask for Shads." "Same with you Sonic. I won't force you to do anything you're not ready for. If you want to start off slow with our relationship I'm okay with that. I'll do anything to make you happy." Sonic smiled hearing what Shadow said and looked up at him. They were both looking into each other's eyes before they start leaning in until their lips connect. They were making out for a few minutes before needing to break for air. "I love you Sonic" "I love you too Shadow"

The rest of the day for them was pretty quiet. Shadow was in his office preparing for the interrogation while Sonic is sitting in the living room reading a book. He didn't want to bother his boyfriend too much so he picked up a book he's interested in to keep his mind occupied. After Shadow was done he came out of his office and saw Sonic sitting on the couch enjoying the book he's been reading. He decided not to bother him and go to the kitchen to start cooking dinner for them. While the food is cooking in the oven he decided to check on Sonic.

The second he sat down on the couch next to his boyfriend he watches him lay his head on his lap eyes still glued to the book. "You look like you're enjoying reading." "Very much. I didn't want to bother you while you were working and this book interested me. Sonia and I would sometimes read books together and talk about our opinions about it." Shadow started petting his head earning some soft purrs. "Maybe when you're feeling more comfortable we can go to a book store sometime." He can feel Sonic tense up a bit. "I-I don't know...I'm sure nobody wants to see me anywhere after that day." "Here in Westopolis people are more understanding. Even asking me how I'm doing or how the search for you was going. I don't go near Metropolis cause I heard they jumped to conclusions and they listened to Tails over me. I even hate telling you this but he gave up on you the second I knew you were missing. The only other people that helped me besides GUN was Rouge, Knuckles, Amy, and Blaze." Sonic puts the book down and Shadow can tell he feels betrayed by the one mobian he thought he knew most. Shadow leans down giving him some kisses on his cheeks and lips to help him feel better.

After a few minutes Sonic finally sits up so Shadow can check on their dinner. He follows him to the kitchen and sits down at the table. "What are you making for dinner love?" "Lasagna for dinner and chocolate cake for dessert." He started chuckling a little seeing Sonic drool a bit. When he finally noticed he quickly wiped his mouth blushing red and gave an apologetic look. Once dinner was done Shadow starts putting plates of food along with two glasses of water on the table and sits across from Sonic. "You're a really good cook Shads." "Thanks I actually learned from your sister." As they were eating they talked about what they did with Sonia outside of the trio hanging out.

Once they were finished Sonic offered to clean the dishes again. Even though Shadow tells him he doesn't have to but he insists. "I don't want to be a burden letting you do everything...please Shadow?" It took a bit but he convinced him that he wasn't going to back down. Sonic started washing the dishes not minding that Shadow is watching him. After he finishes washing the dishes Shadow carefully wrapped his arms around Sonic's waist trying not to scare him. He relaxes into the touch and lays his head on Shadow's shoulder. "You doing okay Sonic?" He nods his head purring. Shadow smiles and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "Hopefully I wasn't being too harsh about saying I didn't want to be a burden to you." "Not at all love. Like I've told you from the beginning...I want you to speak your mind and be honest with me." Sonic turns around and hugs him burying his face in his neck. Shadow hugs him back showering him with kisses making Sonic laugh a little. "That tickles Shadow" "There's that smile" They give each other a kiss on the lips and then go upstairs getting ready for bed.

After finishing their night routine they lay down in bed together cuddling. Sonic was purring as Shadow was gently stroking his back. He had something on his mind and knew it was better to open up about it. "Hey Shads?" "Yes Sonic?" He hesitated for a minute but then spoke up. "I-I'm really nervous about tomorrow." Shadow tried to reassure him explaining a little bit about how it'll work. "It will be just you and me in the room together and I will go through everything with you before we even get started." This helped Sonic relax knowing his boyfriend will be with him the whole time. "My commander said we can come in anytime and he'll understand if you need more time." "No...it's time for me to open up about everything. Everyone has waited long enough to hear my side of the story." Shadow gave him a kiss on the head as they both started drifting to sleep. "I love you Shadow" "I love you too Sonic"
