Chapter 22

Katsen

It's been three months since I moved with Grey. We decided to stay in Manchester. So, the mansion there is our home. We decided to continue staying there after we got married.

Grey has gone to see my family back in Nigeria and I couldn't be more happier than I am right now.

My father consented to our marriage which is four weeks away from now.

He had also taken me to Canada to meet his parents. Though his mom was not in support of us together. Something to do with Kate. She somehow loves Kate and would prefer her Son to marry Kate instead of me.

But after a while. She came around and apologised to me for the way she treated me.  I am happy everything is looking good.

Grey was always in London. Sometimes, he travels out of the country for business. I on the other hand. I was always busy with the restaurant. I am about to open another bigger branch soon.

Ever since Grey had proposed to me. He has been supportive. Despite his busy schedule. He always makes time to be with me.

There is something else though. The number of security we have baffles me and Grey refused to tell me why I had to go about with them.

He only said it was for my protection. He said he wouldn't want anyone to use me to get to him. I believe him. But, I know there is more to that.

Today I'm grocery shopping with my friend Ari. She has been staying with me in the mansion ever since Grey travels out. He will be coming back today and I can't wait to receive him back.

"Don't forget about the cup noodle Kat". Ari warned

She loves cup noodles. I do too. But, I love my fried and Jollof rice more. Sea foods are also my favourite.

"Ari, you can shop for whatever you want. Let me do mine please"

"Rude. Selfish". She accused and I laughed

"It is called preference my dear. Like I said. Buy whatever you want to eat and let me do the same. How is that selfish?". I teased.

"Kat, let's get some chicken feet and pork belly".

Chicken feet are ok by me. But pork? No. I don't eat pork. Even though my father loves eating pork. I never liked it.

"Ari". I shouted.

"Buy whatever you want to eat. Please, let me do my shopping". She giggled.

I swear, this girl is not normal. She always has a way of getting into my skin.

We continued with shopping and I could see Ted following behind us.

Ted is Grey's number-one bodyguard. Normally, he was supposed to be with Grey. But Grey decided that because he trusted him the most. He should stay behind to keep me safe. I am not complaining. The guy is nice anyway.

Suddenly, I started getting the feeling that someone was watching me. I got goosebumps all over my body as I looked around me to check. But, no one that I know.

I decided to ignore the feeling. Maybe I am just exaggerating.

"What is it?". Ari asked

"Nothing. Let's go. I think we are done for now". She nodded in agreement as we pushed our trolley to the cashier's desk.

After arranging what we bought in different storage. Some are in the fridge. Some in the deep freezer and some in the kitchen storage.

Ari and I went into our rooms to freshen up and we later came back to the sitting room to watch a movie instead of the media room.

The media room in this mansion is too big so I prefer watching TV in my room or any of the sitting rooms.

Ari and I are watching The Woman King on Netflix. It's a movie I never get tired of watching. We were munching on some chips. The two maids I just employ are making something for us to eat when I remembered that I didn't get to buy beer.

"Ari". I called and she looked at me. " I forgot to buy canned beers"

"What? How could you? There was no way I would eat my spicy chicken feet without a beer Kat".

"I know. Let me quickly go buy you some. There are some stores very close. I should get from there. I would probably just walk down there anyway ". I giggled

"Don't stay for long". She warned

I made my way out and Ted was not anywhere close. I decided to quickly go alone. After all, I am not going very far.

I know Grey had specifically warned me that I should not go anywhere without a bodyguard. But, where am I going? Just around the Estate.

I got there in time and I walked into the store. I bought a few cans. Enough that can last the night. I don't even know why Koreans drink beer while eating meat.

After I paid for the drinks. I made my way back towards the Estate to the mansion.

As I walked down the street. I spotted black cars and some men in black standing beside the car. I remembered this setting very well. I slowed down thinking about what to do because I got the feeling that this could lead to another kidnapping.

I regretted waking out without a guard immediately. But as a Nija girl that I am. I thought of a way I could beat them if they came anywhere close to me.

The idea clicked. The can of beer. Yes. I will use it as my weapon.

So I continue walking getting ready to attack. But before I reach the car. The car door opened and a handsome Michael walked out of the car.

I stood some metres away from him looking at him. Looking all handsome. But I don't care. I only belong to one person now. And that is Grey. And we are getting married soon.

"Hello my love. You missed me?". He was grinning showing his white teeth and spreading his hands out for me to run into his embrace.

What's wrong with him? What does he think he is doing? He was the one who ended the relationship. So, why is he here now?

"What do you want Michael?". I angrily asked.

"You. I want you back, Kat".

His he sick or something? 

"Don't make me laugh. You know you are not funny right now". I scoffed.
