Deanna's party

Daryl's POV
I woke up the next day, earlier than everyone else. I went outside to the porch and sat down on a chair. The sky was multiple different colours as the sun was rising and no one was around or awake except the birds that were chirping. I was enjoying the silence and had got lost in my thoughts. I light a smoke every once in a while, taking long drags repeatedly every minute. A couple of hours must have passed by while I was in thought. I got startled by a voice saying 'hey what cha thinking about'. I let out a grunt and mumbled 'ya scared the shit outta me u prick' looking to the side and seeing Rick. He just chuckled in response saying 'sorry, you didn't answer my question tho' sitting down on the chair next to me. I mumbled 'nothing' which earned a 'hmm, sure' from Rick he then asked if I wanted breakfast, I'm pretty sure it was to change the subject, so I nodded and we headed inside.

Once we were inside, he asked me what I wanted to eat, I shrugged not really bothered what I eat. He suggested cereal so I nodded while sighing. He made a bowl of Cheerios for both me and himself and sat down next to me. We were having a conversation about today's plans and that we should just do whatever we were asked to do. He then spoke up saying that deanna is hosting a welcome party tonight and I should come. I scoffed in response to the last part of his sentence. I looked up at Rick to see his serious expression which made me realise he wasn't joking. I told him 'parties ain't ma sort of thing' he replied with 'i know it ain't but it's the least you could do to show your respect for letting us stay.' I rolled my eyes at what he was saying but I told him 'fine but if I get drunk that's your problem to deal with,' knowing that I'll probably just stay by the alcohol all night. He nodded in return and said 'deal'.

We had now finished eating or food and Rick told me to go get ready so I did. I thought Rick would have gone to find out the plans were but when I got downstairs and saw that Rick was waiting for me. He told me 'deanna is giving us a duty to do, if u want I can get her to partner us together so you are a bit more comfortable' I nodded saying 'I'd prefer that, thanks'. He told me 'no problem' and asked if I was ready to go. I nodded and began following him outside to where everyone else was. After a bit our duties were announced. Me and Rick were on supply run, Maggie was in charge of gardening alongside deanna, Glenn and Michonne were also on supply run but with the group of people who already did it before we arrived, carol was on chores and the rest of us were on and off guard or gate duty, except Carl who was watching Judith. These duty's were until further notice.

Once everyone had got given there duty everyone had sort of split up and went there own ways. Me and Rick went back to the house with Carol. Rick and carol were walking in front of me having a conversation about something but I couldn't concentrate on it. I was walking behind dragging my feet slightly biting my nails, unintentionally, minding my business while lost in thought. I felt eyes on me so I turned around to see that asshole from yesterday staring at me with his mates and laughing at me so I stuck my middle finger up at them and carried on walking to the house. Once we got inside I sat down on the sofa playing with my crossbow and waited until Rick said we were leaving.

Today's been and is going to be a bit of a struggle, I'm tired and on the verge of regressing but I'm trying to avoid doing so. I feel bad about Rick doing nothing but look after me. He went from not even knowing that I had a secret to him constantly looking after me so I'm just going to push it back for a bit.

After a couple of minutes, carol had left so it was just me and Rick along with silence. Rick then spoke up saying 'what's up, you've been quiet and out of it all day' I told him that I was just tired which earned an okay from him. He asked if I was ready to go and I nodded while getting up of the sofa. We went outside to the gate and headed out. We walked for a while, killing the odd Walker that appeared from the woods, until we had found a cabin. We decided to search the cabin hoping to find some stuff. We searched for a bit, I found a few cans of foods and a new knife which is an added bonus for me. Once we were done searching we had both filled our bags up we headed back.
