Renée's eyebrows furrowed as she navigated her way through traffic on the road.
She had been up since 8 in the morning, which was unusual. But today was a special day.
Today was Monique's birthday and Renée was focusing on getting everything ready for it.
Though, for now, her preparations would have to come to a halt. She still had class after all. She had almost everything ready anyway. She was headed her way to the University of Miami's campus right now, with decorations in her car.
Class was the only thing she had to worry about today. She had taken the day off of work for Monique.
She knew Monique wouldn't be headed her way until later in the afternoon. Monique's friend would be celebrating with her for the first half of the day, which worked for Renée.
Renée smiled at the thought of how Renée would react to her surprise.
Just as she thought of her, her car's speaker announced that she had gotten a call from her.
They must be soulmates, Renée thought to herself.
"Hey baby." Monique's voice rang groggily throughout her car
"You just woke up?" Renée asked
"Yeah, I wanted to call you before your class." Monique said
"You didn't have to do that baby. Sleep in. And I still have 30 minutes before my class." Renée said
"Yeah, I ain't know what time it was but I didn't wanna miss you." Monique said
"Aww, you so cute. I wanna give you a kiss." Renée said
"Mmh, I know." Monique said
"Anyway, happy birthday my love." Renée said enthusiastically
"Thank you pretty girl." Monique said happily, allowing Renée to practically hear the smile on her face
"I can't wait to celebrate with you." Renée said
"Me either. I wish you were here now." Monique said
"I know baby. Me too." Renée said
"You going to class today?" Renée asked
"Oh baby, no. I done already told that man I wasn't coming. Not finna ruin my birthday." Monique said
"I don't know why I even asked." Renée said as she lightly chuckled
"But I just wanna tell you thank you real quick. I really appreciate everything mama." Monique said softly
"For what?" Renée asked as she furrowed her eyebrows at the suddenness of it
"Cause, I know you got me something or did something for me, probably both. And I just wanna say thank you." Monique said
"You're welcome my love. And of course. I wanna show you how much I love you." Renée said
"Come show me now. Come over." Monique said as she groaned
"Moni I can't. I can't really skip today. I wish I could. And you were doing something with you friend. So don't miss me too much. And I'm not ready yet. I'm gonna see you later, mmh?" Renée said
