I was hanging out with Tory at the skate park when suddenly we heard kids cheering. We turned to see Hawk, and he looked furious.

"Bird Brain?!" I shouted at him, trying to provoke him.

Hawk's eyes narrowed as he walked toward us with a determined look. "You think you're funny?" he snarled, stopping right in front of me.

Tory stepped up beside me, trying to defuse the situation. "Hey, what's up? You look mad."

"Mind your own business," he yelled, getting closer.

"Okay, I don't know what got your panties in a twist, but watch your tone," I retorted.

"Hey, guys, let's just calm down," Miguel said, jogging up to us.

"No, if he wants a problem, we'll give him one," Tory said, standing up from the bench we were sitting on.

"Tory, shut up! And Y/N, back off, because all you do is ruin everything," Hawk said, getting even angrier.

"Okay, what the hell is up with you?" I said, feeling my own anger rise.

Hawk's fists clenched, and for a moment, I thought he might actually swing at me. The tension in the air was thick, and the kids around us had formed a circle, watching intently. Before things could escalate further, an older skater, one of the regulars, stepped in.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Everyone chill out," he said, placing himself between us.

Hawk glared at me one last time before taking a step back. "Fine. But this isn't over," he muttered, turning away and walking off.

Tory let out a breath, shaking her head. "What is his problem?"

"I don't know," I replied, still feeling the adrenaline.

Miguel nodded, looking relieved that the situation hadn't turned into a full-blown argument or even a fight. "Y/N, we need to talk."

"Okay, talk. Hawk already walked off," I said.

"Well, Hawk likes you but saw you hanging with Robby yesterday," Miguel explained.

"Wait, wait. Hawk, as in Eli, likes me?" I paused, thinking. "I thought he was dating Moon."

"They broke up a month ago, and he's been trying to hide it. That's why his hair is red," Miguel said.

"So, he's heartbroken and I'm the backup?" I asked, feeling a mix of confusion and anger.
