It is a cold rainy evening, creating a
dark and dreary atmosphere.Sunghoon slows his car and stop at the red light, he sighs and leans back in his seat, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel as he waits for the light to change.
As he waited, he looked out of the car door window and saw a familiar figure standing in the corner of a store. He squints and wipe the window with his hand to get a better look, his eyes widen as he realizes it was Sunoo.
He saw him standing there in the pouring rain and his arms spread wide.
Without hesitation, Sunghoon quickly unbuckles his seatbelt, and opens the car door, stepping out into the rain to approach the younger boy.
As he approaches him, he can see that Sunoo's clothes were soaked, but his expression was calm and peaceful, his eyes closed.
"Sunoo?" sunghoon calls out, raising his voice to be heard over the sound of the rain. "What are you doing out here? You're going to catch a cold!"
Sunoo opens his eyes slowly and turns to look at sunghoon, a smile appear on his face. "Ohh you're here, I just wanted to feel the rain," he says in a soft voice. "It feels nice, you know?"
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow. "You're going to catch a cold," he repeats, concerned. "You shouldn't be standing out here in the rain like this, you're all wet."
"But i like the feeling of the-
Sunghoon cut off his sentence and quickly grabs Sunoo's arm and leads him towards his car.
"What are you thinking, standing out in the rain like this? You're going to catch a cold."
He opens the car door and motions for Sunoo to get in, once they are both in the car, he gently places his warm coat over Sunoo's shoulders.
"How long have you been standing outside in the rain? You're such a kid for doing something so reckless."
Sunoo looks up at Sunghoon, and make a sad face. "I just...felt like I needed to feel the rain, to...to"
Sunghoon shakes his head, concern etched on his face. "No No, You could've caught a cold or worse. You shouldn't have done something so reckless," he chides gently.
Sunghoon pulled his car to the roadside and speaks again. "You're lucky I was passing by and saw you out there. If I hadn't, who knows how long you would've stood out there in the rain," he says, still sounding concerned.
"Why are you scolding me like you're my parent?" he pouts and looks down.
"I'm not your parent, but I do care about you," he says, his voice gentle but firm.
Sunoo looks up at him, speechless.
"You care about me?""Of course I do. You're my friend, and as your friend, it's my job to make sure you're not doing something stupid like standing out in the rain like this."
Sunoo rolled his eyes, and gave him an annoyed look, sunghoon chuckles and take out his phone. "I'm booking a taxi for you," he says to Sunoo. "I have some important work to take care of with my cousin, so I won't be able to drop you home."
After a few moments, he looks up at Sunoo. "The taxi will be here in a few minutes," he says. "Just stay in the car until then, okay? I don't want you standing out in the rain again."
Sunoo nods obediently, huddling in the passenger seat and wrapping Sunghoon's coat tighter around himself.
As they sit in silence again, the sound of the rain beating against the car becomes louder, filling the empty space between them. Just then, a taxi pulls up beside sunghoon's car, interrupting the silence.
"That's the taxi," he says, looking at sunoo. "You should get going."
Sunoo nods and hesitates for a moment, like he wants to say something. Sunghoon notices his hesitation. "What is it?" he asks, his voice gentle.
"I just...I just wanted to say thank you." he says softly.
The other smiles softly and patted his head. "It's okay, you don't have to thank me" he says in a gentle voice.
They were smiling looking into each other's eyes, and then taxi honks outside, reminding them that the driver is waiting.
Sunghoon looks back at the taxi and then at Sunoo. "You should get going," he says, gesturing to the taxi.
He waves at sunoo, as he drives away, Sunghoon looks down at himself, his clothes are slightly damp from the rain. He get back into his car and drove to his cousin's house.
He knocks on the door, feeling the cold raindrops on his skin and the chill in the air. After a moment, the door opens and his cousin, Seolhee, greets him with a cheerful smile.
"Hoonie, You're here" she says, ushering him inside. "Come in, you're soaked!"
He steps into the warm house and shakes off the rain from his hair. "Noona, stop calling me that, it's embarrassing."
Seolhee chuckles and grins at him. "Nope, I won't stop." she says, her voice playful. "It's cute and you know it."
Sunghoon sat on the sofa and shakes his head. "Seriously, you're such a pain." he mutters, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Seolhee laughs heartily and ruffles his hair. "You know you love it," she teases.
She laughs at his grumpy expression and grabs a towel from the bathroom.
"Here, dry yourself before you catch a cold," she says, handing him the towel with a smile.
After he has dried himself off a bit, Seolhee looks at him curiously. "So, what brings you here?" she asks, her voice warm and friendly.
"Nothing, I'm just here to see you, so how's life going after breakup" he asks.
Sunghoon notices the slight sadness in her eyes and feels guilty for bringing it up and quickly apologies.
"I’m sorry, noona." he says gently. "I didn’t mean to bring up painful memories."
She shakes her head and tries to smile. "It's okay, i'm just...still getting used to being alone, I guess."
He nods, feeling an empathy for her situation. He pats the spot next to him on the couch. "Sit down," he says softly. Seolhee walks over and sits down next to him, her expression looking defeated.
Can I ask you something?" he asked his voice hesitant.
"Sure, what is it?" she turns to look at him.
Sunghoon wanted to tell her about Heeseung, but he hesitant to say it. He knew that Seolhee is a kind and understanding girl and feel bad for her, she had been going through a lot and that's why he want heeseung and seolhee to be each other's company.
