"Wait so she just turned up?", Ingrid asked through the phone as I searched through my closet for something to wear.

"Yeah, I was ignoring her so she thought that was the only way to talk to me, she wants to meet tonight to talk", I said as I picked out a pair of jeans and a cropped top, simple.

"Well are you going?", Mapi asked as I bit my lip nervously. She hates my mum, and rightly so.

"Yes", I mumbled as I heard her frustrated sigh through the phone and Ingrid's hushed voice.

"Are you sure about this, Liv?", Ingrid asked softly as I threw on the clothes.

"Yes I'm sure, I need this", I said firmly as I heard their hushed voices again.

"I can hear you guys whispering, you know that right?", I said.

"We're just worried, what she did was unforgivable", Mapi said as I started to become frustrated because I knew she was right.

"That's for me to decide alright? I'll talk to you later", I said hanging up abruptly before they could say anything else.

"Liv", I heard Leah's voice making me jump and turn to see her leaning against the doorframe.

"Give a girl a warning next time", I said as she took a few steps towards me.

"They have a right to be worried you know?", she said softly as I put on my shoes and tied the laces.

"I can make my own decisions", I said as I walked out of our room and down the stairs with Leah following behind me.

"We know that, just be careful-"

"Careful? She's my mum, Leah, I'll be fine", I scoffed as Leah looked taken aback by my outburst.

"See? She's already making you stress out, Liv-"

"No, Leah, I'm pretty sure that's you", I said rolling my eyes before grabbing my keys and heading for the door.

"Liv-"

"I'll text you later okay?"

"At least let me drive you-"

"I can walk", I said before opening the door and leaving. The bar was only a 15 minute walk so it wasn't far. I took the time to think about what she might say to me. Would she try and make excuses for why she left?

Once I arrived at the bar, I seen her sitting at one of the booths so I walked over and sat opposite her and she looked surprised to see me.

"You came", she said shocked and relieved.

"I did", I said, making sure my face held no emotion. I ordered myself a double vodka lemonade from the bartender who walked past. We sat in an awkward silence until the bartender set down my drink. The silence was making me anxious so I downed my drink, ordered another as well as a shot.

"Maybe you should slow down", my mum said making me scoff and shake my head.

"She speaks", I said, my voice laced with sarcasm as she took a sip of her drink.

"Why didn't you believe me?", I said, cutting to the chase after the bartender set down my drinks. I took the shot whilst she thought of an answer.

"I did, I just didn't want it to be true. I loved him and I didn't want him to leave-"

"So you let him continue doing it to me because you wanted his love and affection", I said through gritted teeth as she looked down.

"I'm sorry, Liv, I'm really sorry, I just want a chance to be your mum again", she choked as I felt my tears build. I ordered another couple drinks and a tray of shots because we were both going to need them. Once the bartender set down the drinks, my mum eyed me skeptically as I handed her a shot.
