"I saw sparks."

-Coldplay 'Sparks'

I suddenly hear a loud clap an inch away from my right ear and I flinch as Coach Quinn makes his way to the front of the classroom, "Alright people, welcome to honors biology, I'm Mr. Quinn, although some of you might know me as Coach Quinn," he clears his throat and glances at me, quickly snapping back up to the rest of the room, "let's just stick to Mr. Quinn, alright?" Everyone nods except for me. He didn't say anything when I called him coach though?

I feel Mariana tap my shoulder so I look over, "Look at those arms," she mouths to me. I roll my eyes and look back up at Coach Quinn. I can't help but peek at his muscular arms. Mar was right, this man was built like a God.

"The paper that is in front of you is the syllabus for this class, you must bring it back to me before Friday with a parent signature." He clears his throat once more before speaking again, "For today, I will let y'all socialize with the people next to you. Let's keep a relatively average volume in here, alright?"

And just like that, everyone in the room breaks into conversation. Including Mariana.

"Hey, you wanna grab smoothies after school?" I already like the sound of this. "There is a smoothie place by my house so we can walk. My treat." How can I refuse free smoothies? "Sorry if this is way too soon, I just need a friend." She and I laugh.

"Sure! That sounds good, so I'll just tell my brother to drop me off at your house. That is if he isn't playing basketball somewhere." I smile at her, then remember I still have to ask Kyle.

"You have a brother?" She wiggles her eyebrows and returns the smile as I whip out my phone and open the messages app. "He plays basketball?"

"Shut up he's a junior." I laugh as I wiggle my thumbs across the keyboard. Mar gives me her number and address.

I start typing out a message to Kyle, asking him to drop me off at Mar's house after he is threw with practice.

"Kie." My eyes snap up at the deep voice. "Get off your phone or give it to me."

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mar turn her head over to me and back at Coach Quinn. "I'm sorry Coach Quinn, I'm just texting my brother real quick.." I look up to meet his honey eyes, contemplating if I should've called him Mr. Quinn.

He looks like he has been lifted from a spell, because he just blinks and nods as he makes his way back to his desk.

"What was that about?" I hear Mar whisper with a confused look on her face.

I shake my head and send the text to my brother.
