After school I head into the boys locker room where I see all of the boys jumping up and down excitingly. "It's game day, baby!!!" They all keep screaming. I smile at the teenagers' attitudes and head into the office that belongs to Coach Reid, the head coach.
"Hey, Ken." I sit down on the chair in front of him.
"Wassup, James." He shuts his computer and smiles at me.
"Kendrick.." I start, "Remember last month when you kicked Kyle out of practice?" I sound unsure.
He rolls his eyes, "How could I forget."
"Well, listen, I know that kid has been through some shit. All I ask is for you to go a little easier on him."
He nods his head. I also nod my head, stand up, and walk out.
When everyone is ready and laced up, we head out to the gym. As soon as I open the doors, I scan the bleachers until I find Kie. She has her phone in hand as usual. Her head lifts up and meets my eyes. She looks away from me, but I don't.

I sit in the row right behind the bench. When the gym doors open I look over and to a staring Coach Quinn, who I quickly look away from. I give my brother a smile and he returns it.
I pay attention to Kyle's behavior closely during this practice, which seems normal.

"And lastly.. number 10.. a 6'1 junior.. Kyle Woods!" Everyone cheers, including me. After the tip-off, Nolan gets a drive and a free layup.
It's not long into the first quarter when I feel a freezing cold hand on my shoulder. I flinch and look up behind me to see a slender woman.
"HI SWEETHEART!!"
