Marina spent her last morning in the bathroom letting out whatever was left in her stomach. Nerves ate her away the moment she opened her eyes from her short slumber. The past few days have been filled with non-stop preparation for what was about to come.

Today she would be entering the Hunger Games.

The brunette brushed her teeth and took a shower, possibly her last one ever. As she exited the bathroom, a pair of athletic clothing was waiting for her on her bed. Pearl stood outside Marinas room tapping her impatient foot on the ground "You ready to go? Adella already walked down Pier."

"Ready as I'll ever be."

Marina was loaded into a hovercraft and before fully boarding she took one last look out onto the Capitol. Evil things are often disguised in beauty.

Once she was buckled in, she observed the woman approaching other tributes. "Arm." she demanded from Marina who looked at her with a curious expression "What is that?"

The older woman grabbed her arm harshly and jabbed a giant needle into her wrist, "It's your tracker, so the Gamemakers can know where you are and track your health." she explained before moving on to the other tributes.

The brunette lifted her head after investigating her arm, her eyes were immediately brought to the boy sitting across from her. Pier was shaking from head to toe as all the careers eyeballed him as if he were meat.

"Pier," Marina whispered to get his attention, the blonde boy looked up as the older tribute smiled over at him, hopefully, to comfort him.

The ride lasted about 15 minutes before the hovercraft landed and all the tributes were escorted in opposite directions.

Marina was shoved into her room as the door locked behind her, as she stumbled to the metal door she threw her fists as hard as she could, pounding on the locked door. "Oh my fuck, please!" she begged silently to herself before a voice interrupted her thoughts.

"It's supposed to be hot in the arena," Venelope said as she unzipped the black garment bag, the brunette rushed over to the older woman and embraced her.

'15 minutes till launch'

"Alright, alright we only have a couple minutes," a pair of black leggings were shoved into Marina's arms along with a black tight-fitted short sleeve. As the tribute began pulling on the new arena clothes, the stylist began going into more detail about the arena.

"I heard they will be utilizing weather, lots of rain and wind." She tossed the younger girl a windbreaker, "Lots of water as well, I assume you know how to swim-"

The rest of Venelope's details were cut short as Marina heard the word swim, "w-water?"

The stylist ran her hands up and down Marina's shoulders, "Yes darling, you can swim correct?", the girl's eyes grew wider with concern, as Venelope realized this she sighed "Just don't die alright? Maybe you can learn how to swim when you get back to District 4, hm?"

The brunette nodded heavily as the new launch time was announced.

'5 minutes till launch'

"One more thing." Venelope said, reaching down into her pocket "Usually each tribute has a token they can bring into the arena. A little something from home. He mentioned a homemade shell necklace you wore when you first came to the Capitol."

"He?" the stylist ignored her question as she pulled out Marina's dainty little necklace, "You kept it?".

It was her seashell necklace she wore every day up until she arrived at the Capitol, she thought it would be long gone by now.

"Of course, I kept it Mari, oh there's a little addition he made to it." Venelope winked as Marina brought her eyes down to the necklace, a little shark tooth was added to the middle of the neck. Once Marina noticed this new small addition she looked back up at the woman "Finnick says good luck.".

The stylist shoved the tribute into the capsule lightly with a proud smile on her lips, kissing her hand she blew the brunette a small air kiss as the tube lifted the girl. Marina could feel her heart pounding, and after a few seconds, the tube emerged into the arena.

The brunette squinted her eyes from the brightness and looked around the arena, as her eyes adjusted she realized the tributes were in the middle of the desert. White sand covered the ground around them all for miles.

"Well fuck." She spoke to herself as the countdown began.

Everyone gathered around the sofas, Adella had a glass of red wine in her hand as she discussed plans with Pearl. Meanwhile, Finnick was pacing behind everyone else tying the same knots over and over.

Once the blonde victor heard the numbers he brought his full attention to the screen.

The cannon sounded and all that was heard in the room was the soft breathing along with one word that filled the whole room.

A word that came from the blonde victor who has had to watch his tributes die repeatedly every year, "Run."
