Zander locks the door, and he sits down with the two boys. He needs to talk with them but does not want to upset Cade. Cade is so sweet and sensitive.

(Z) Can I ask you both a question?

(C) Yes.

(Cr) You can ask me anything.

(Z) Did they tell you what happened?

(C) No, what happened?

(Cr) They did not say anything.

(Z) Our new dad beat Hank's ass. He has a broke nose, fractured rib, and broken hand.

(C) Why?

(Cr) It is simple, dad will take care of his family. No one is going to hurt any of his family.

(Z) That is right baby.

Cade looks down. He feels bad. He knows that is Zander's dad. Zander grabs his hand and makes him look up.

(Z) I will choose you every day over anyone. Do you understand? What dad did for us was amazing. He protected you and made sure they would not come near us again.

(C) You are not mad?

(Z) No baby.

(Cr) Good, I am glad. I was afraid you would be mad too.

(Z) I would never be mad at anyone for choosing my whole world over someone else.

(C) I love you.

(Z) I love you too buddy.

(Cr) I can go home tonight if you want me to.

(Z) No sir.

(C) We are here to help you too. We love you.

(Cr) I know.

There is a knock at the door. Zander looks out and it is Otto. Zander opens the door and Otto rushes in. He embraces Cade in a hug and won't let go. He finally does and he sits with Cade on the bed.

(O) Are you ok?

(C) Yes.

(O) Please tell me someone is going to make that man pay.

(Z) Our new dad took care of that. Hank has a broken hand, nose, and fractured rib.

(O) Good.

(C) Otto.

(Z) It is ok Cade. I no longer consider them mom or dad. I asked them to stop contacting us.

(C) Ok.

(Cr) I am glad you made it home safe.

(Z) Me too.

(O) Can I sit here for a little while?

(Z) Yes buddy. You are also staying Saturday night.

(C) We are going to have fun.

(O) Do you have those assignments? I can take them with me.

(C) Yeah, I do.

(Z) You can give those to him later. You two swap places with us. You and Otto play the game and me and Cruz will play on our phones on the bed.

(C) Ok, thank you Zan.

(Z) You're welcome baby boy.

They swap place and Otto and Cade start playing games. Zander and Cruz sit on the bed and watch them. You can tell they are best friends. They have a love for each other that is strong and real. Zander smiles and he shares a small kiss with Cruz.
