Chapter 30

The boys have been back for a while. Cruz has been asleep, and Zander has been laying there fighting his sleep and holding Cade. He wants Cade to know when he wakes up everything is ok, and he is not mad. Cade has slept most of the night and starts to stir around three thirty in the morning. Zander wakes up and he helps Cade up. They are quiet, they do not want to wake Cruz up.

Zander gently and quietly leads Cade into the bathroom. Cade had to pee, so he does his business. Zander uses it after him and they sit in the floor to talk. Cade(C) and Zander(Z) will talk.

(C) I am sorry.

Zander leans over and kisses Cade. He gently rubs his back, and he lets his tongue explore Cade's mouth. They break apart and Zander just holds Cade.

(Z) You have nothing to be sorry about. I am sorry that Erick did that to Hank. I should have kept that from you. I do want you to know I love you. I love you more than anyone else. There is nothing I wouldn't do for you. Do you understand?

(C) Yes, I knew when I sit down at the bus stop. I had eighty text messages and twenty voicemails. I knew then you chose me and I was hurting you. I wasn't trying to hurt you; I was trying to make it to them to apologize.

(Z) Cade, you promise me right now you will never go with them alone.

(C) I promise.

(Z) I am through with them. They are no longer my family. You are more than my family, if you want to be.

(C) I do.

(Z) Ok, we will come up with a plan.

(C) Are you upset with me?

(Z) I am a little upset you didn't trust me enough to talk to me. I always want you to feel like you can talk to me.

(C) I'm sorry.

(Z) It's ok.

(C) Do you want to punish me?

(Z) No baby. I just want you to understand that running away is something we can't do. I have you and you have me. The only way we run away is if we run together. How does that sound?

(C) Deal.

(Z) Let me get you some melatonin. We need to get some sleep. We have work today.

(C) I am helping today and tomorrow. We need to make sure I get paid too. I do not want us to get behind and start having to use our savings.

(Z) You are helping today. You and I will swap every half hour just to walk and check on Cruz.

(C) He said he was coming with us and bringing a blanket to sit on the floor. He does not want to be alone all day.

(Z) Ok, we can talk about it in the morning. He was scared tonight. You need to be nice to him tomorrow.

(C) I will.

(Z) We all need to talk about Saturday night as well. I know we want to surprise Otto. How far do you want to go?

(C) I want to do everything with him.

(Z) Ok.

(C) Do you think Cruz will be ok with that?

(Z) I think so.

(C) Are we going to still do stuff with Cruz?

(Z) Do you want too?

(C) If you do.

(Z) No sir, do you want too? I need you to answer me honestly. I need to know what makes you comfortable and uncomfortable.

(C) I think I am ok with it.
