Chapter 34

Zander's alarm goes off and he wakes Cade up. Cade is fussy and does not want to get up. Zander lifts him off the bed and sits him on the couch. He walks over to Cruz's room, and he walks in. He sees Otto and Cruz cuddled up together. He gently shakes them and wakes them up. He helps Cruz up and they all go and sit in the living room. Cade has dozed back off and Otto wakes him up. He is planting kisses all over his face and tickling his sides. Cade is begging him to stop and Zander and Cruz just watch. They are glad Cade and Otto are close. They all sit down and talk.

(Z) I am sorry to wake everyone up. It is two. We all need to get changed and get ready.

(C) It's ok, I am sorry. I was just tired.

(Z) It is ok. You didn't do anything wrong.

(C) Are you excited about your party Otto?

(O) Yes and no. I am excited but I am ready for it to be over with. I want to get back here.

(Cr) We can't wait either.

(Z) I think you will have a lot of fun tonight.

Cruz looks at his phone and he makes a face. Zander sees it and questions him.

(Z) What is wrong Cruz?

(Cr) I am not sure. Mom and dad texted. They are on their way over. They want to speak with us.

(C) Are we in trouble?

(Cr) I don't think so.

(Z) Do you think they want to talk to us about tonight?

(Cr) I don't know, let me call them.

Cruz goes to call them when there is a knock at the door. Zander gets up and walks and look out the door. It is Alice and Erick. He lets Cruz open the door while him and Cade go and put a shirt on. They walk out of the bedroom, and they sit down. Alice and Erick will join the conversation.

(A) Otto baby, I have a question?

(O) Yes mam.

(A) Would you go and sit in Cruz's room with him for just a minute.

(Cr) Why?

(E) We would like to speak to Zander and Cade alone for a minute.

(Cr) Why?

(A) Cruz we just need too.

(Z) It's fine.

(Cr) Ok.

Cruz and Otto go in his room and close the door. Alice and Erick sit down beside the boys.

(E) You are not in trouble.

(A) We just want to talk.

(C) Ok.

(Z) Are you upset with us?

(E) We are not.

(A) Cruz called us, and he asked if he could start doing yard work for us and clean our house a couple days a week. He said he wanted to earn money.

(E) We were confused. We have always wanted Cruz to focus on schoolwork. He said he was afraid we would think he is using us.

(A) We asked him why and he explained the conversation all four of you had.

(E) We want to set the record straight.

(A) You do not use us. We want to help you both. That is why we wanted to take custody of you two.

(E) I am not trying to step out of line. You are our babies as well. We will take care of you two as well.

(A) We wanted to pay all the bills. We want to make sure you two are taken care of.
