Jungkook slouched in his chair, absentmindedly flipping through a stack of mundane case files. Parking violations, noise complaints, petty thefts—none of them remotely interesting. He had joined the force with dreams of making a difference, of solving real crimes, but his reputation as the department's "dumb cop" had condemned him to these trivial assignments. The quiet hum of the office only emphasized his frustration.

The sudden creak of the office door broke his reverie. Officer Yansuk, his stern and imposing senior, stood in the doorway. His eyes scanned the room before landing on Jungkook. "Jungkook, come to my cabin. Now."

Jungkook's heart skipped a beat. It was unusual for Yansuk to call him in personally. He gathered his files, his mind racing with possibilities—had he made a mistake, or was this something more?

He entered Yansuk's cabin, feeling a mixture of apprehension and curiosity. Yansuk sat behind his cluttered desk, a large manila envelope in front of him. He motioned for Jungkook to sit.

"I have a case for you," Yansuk began, his voice steady and unreadable.

Jungkook's pulse quickened. "What kind of case, sir?"

"A runaway case," Yansuk replied, sliding the envelope across the desk. "Sana Minatozaki. Twenty-three years old. Missing for three days."

Jungkook opened the envelope, revealing a photograph of a young woman with long, dark hair and a bright smile. The details were sparse: her family had reported her missing after she failed to return home from work. No signs of foul play, no apparent reason for her disappearance.

"Why me?" Jungkook asked, unable to hide his surprise.

Yansuk leaned back in his chair, his expression softening slightly. "You've been with us for a while, Jungkook. I think it's time you got a chance to prove yourself. This isn't just any runaway case. Sana's father is an influential man. He insisted we put our best on the case. I want you to find her."

Jungkook's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. This was the opportunity he'd been waiting for. "I'll do my best, sir," he said, determination evident in his voice.

Yansuk nodded, a rare hint of encouragement in his eyes. "I know you will. Start by talking to her friends, her coworkers. Find out if there were any problems in her life. And Jungkook," he paused, looking him squarely in the eye, "trust your instincts."

Jungkook left the cabin with a newfound sense of purpose. For the first time, he felt the weight of a real case on his shoulders. It was a chance to change how his colleagues saw him and, more importantly, to make a real difference.
