Maliah’s POV

“Anong gusto mong dish ba?”

“What’s your speciality ba?” Tanong niya pabalik. Kaya napaisip ako, ano nga ba?

“Hm, I think boiled egg?” Pabiro kong sagot.

“Okay, we’ll have boiled egg for dinner.” Seryosong sagot nito.

“Anong lulutuin mo ba?” She asked. She didn’t even bother to answer my question kanina.

“Hm, chicken adobo.” I answered.

“Okay, luto well.”

“You should wait upstairs nalang, nood ka na ng 2 fast 2 furious.” I said, pertaining to the 2nd part of the said saga.

Umiling siya‚ “Ayaw ko.”

“Why? You said gusto mong i-rewatch lahat ng ‘yon!”

“Ang sabi ko, I want to rewatch it with you.” She said, emphasizing the last two words. A blush is already creeping on my cheeks kaya umiwas ako ng tingin sakaniya.

“I want to watch you cook rin, hindi naman at all times ay nakikita ko ‘to. ‘Wag kang mag-alala, I won’t talk so that you won’t be distracted.”

“Play some music nalang.”

“You listen to this song?” Tanong ko sakaniya.

“Yes, lagi ko ‘tong naririnig before sa Cebu e.” Sagot niya.

Wait, she’s from Cebu?

“You’re from Cebu rin?”

“Not totally, I was born lang there tapos we moved din sa Manila, pero bumalik kami doon when I was 9. We lived there for 5 years, lumipat kasi kami sa Quezon City dahil sa work ng dad ko.” Paliwanag niya, tumango lang ako.

“Edi you know how to speak bisaya?”

“Oo.” Maikling sagot niya kaya napangiti ako. Edi p’wede na rin akong magbisaya whenever she’s around!

“Mabuti naman! I can now freely talk in bisaya kapag ikaw ang kasama ko.” Maligalig kong sabi sakanya.

When I finished cooking, I already placed the food sa isang container at nilagay agad iyon sa table para makakain na kami. I called Ate Tes and the others for them to join us pero they declined, mamaya na raw sila kakain dahil they want to give us some privacy daw. Hindi ko nalang sila pinilit.

“Ako ulit maghuhugas sa mga dishes, Ali. Don’t even try to stop me.” I smiled at her remarks at tumango nalang, I don’t have the choice rin naman.

“So, tell me about your life sa Cebu before.”

“Well, It was good. I met good people, those people made my childhood fun pa nga,” Panimula niya, uminom muna siya ng tubig before continuing.

“I met this girl, same age lang siya sa’kin. She’s very kind and very thoughtful, she was my classmate at ang talino niya rin. She was the top of our class, everybody’s admiring her pa nga at isa na ako doon. I met her when I was 9, like, a day after naming lumipat sa subdivision nila, she befriended me agad.” Pagpapatuloy niya,

“What’s her name ba?” Tanong ko.

“I don’t remember her name e.” Sagot niya kaagad at nagpatuloy sa pagkwento.

“So ayun nga, I was sitting alone sa park ng subdivision nang nakita niya ako. Lumapit siya sa’kin and she asked me if I was alone‚ I answered her, ‘hindi ba obvious?’ then she started to hit me nonstop.” She laughed remembering that memory kaya napatawa na rin ako.

“OMG, I did something na similar din sa ginawa ng girl na yun sa’yo! I don’t remember the face and the name of the boy, though.” Pagkukwento ko pa. What happened to her was very similar to what happened to me kasi dati. Sa Cebu rin ‘yon!

“Really? What happened then?” Tanong niya kaya nagkwento kaagad ako.

Flashback
January 26, 2015

Little Maliah was silently strolling alone in their neighbourhood, she managed to sneak out without anyone noticing since everybody’s busy preparing for her birthday party tomorrow.

She’s smiling widely because she’s wearing her favorite red dress and her favorite red sandals her mom gave her.

Upon walking, she saw a kid sitting on the swing. The kid was alone so she went to his direction.

“Hi, what’s your name?” Little Maliah asked, the boy looked at her before answering.

“Gian.” He said that made the former smile. He’s not smiling and it made the former wonder if he doesn’t like her company.

The young woman shrugged off her thoughts and she shyly offered her hand‚ initiating a shake hands.

“Hello, I’m Lia.” She introduced herself, the boy took her hands and shook it.

“Nice to meet you.” He said, Maliah sat at the vacant swing beside him.

“Are you alone?” She asked, the boy unbelievably looked at the smiling Maliah.

“Hindi ba obvious?” When the little girl heard it, she immediately stood up, went closer to Gian and began to hit him nonstop.

Shala, childhood bffs ba sila?
