HELLO I'M BACK ♫꒰・‿・๑꒱

*The next day*

Karina's P.O.V

Winter and I walked to school together the next morning, the memory of last night's events still fresh in our minds. As we strolled through the gates, hand in hand, our fingers intertwined in a way that felt both new and wonderfully familiar, a wave of whispers washed over us. Students paused to stare, their eyes wide with curiosity and surprise.

"Are they dating?"

"They're so cute together."

"Winter is adorable."

"Karina got so lucky."

"Winter got lucky too, you know."

The comments floated through the air like dandelion seeds, light but inescapable. I glanced down at Winter, her usually confident demeanor now tinged with nervousness. Her cheeks were flushed, and she bit her lip, clearly feeling the weight of the attention.

I squeezed her hand gently, leaning closer to whisper, "Don't mind them." My voice was soft, meant only for her ears.

She looked up at me, her eyes searching mine for reassurance. I smiled, hoping to convey all the confidence and certainty I felt. She nodded, her grip on my hand tightening slightly as we continued walking, our pace steady.

We made our way through the throng of students, the whispers and stares gradually fading into the background. Winter's initial nervousness seemed to melt away with each step.

We had just finished our tests, and the long, exhausting day at school was finally over. The air was filled with the chatter of students eager to head home, the sense of relief palpable. Winter and I exchanged tired but satisfied smiles, having survived the day.

We said our goodbyes to our friends, hugging and promising to catch up later. As the crowd thinned out, it was just the two of us left standing at the school gate, the sun beginning its descent in the late afternoon sky.

"Ready to go home?" I asked, glancing at Winter.

She nodded, her eyes bright despite the fatigue. "Yeah, let's go."

Usually, Winter had band meetings after school, but today she was free. We walked side by side, our steps in sync, the familiar path home now feeling a little different, a little more special. The summer breeze was gentle, carrying the scent of fallen leaves and crisp air. The sound of birds chirping softly in the trees above created a serene backdrop for our walk. I couldn't help but steal glances at Winter, her face illuminated by the golden light of the setting sun, making her look even more radiant.
