Karina's P.O.V
"Miss."
"Miss."
"Miss Yu!!!"
The voice pierced through the fog of my sleep, dragging me back to consciousness. My eyelids fluttered open, and the world around me slowly came into focus. The first thing I saw was a pair of concerned eyes peering down at me, the voice now a persistent hum in my ears.
"Kuya James?" I said
(This is a different James. He's the James from Ep 2 the nice one)
"Miss Yu, I was just checking the footage, and this door was open the whole time! I thought an intruder came in. Glad you're safe," said the guard, his voice carrying a mix of relief and confusion.
"Y-yes," I replied groggily, still half-asleep and rubbing my eyes.
"Is Winter at the living room?" I asked, my voice slurred with drowsiness.
"N-No," he responded, shaking his head.
"Hmm... she probably went out for a run or to get groceries," I mused, trying to shake off the lingering sleepiness.
"She does groceries? Doesn't her—" he began but then paused, his eyes flickering with hesitation. "Never mind."
"What?" I asked, standing up from my bed, feeling a growing discomfort at his presence in the room Winter and I shared. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the messy sheets.
I walked out of the bedroom, and he followed. The hallway was dimly lit, the morning light not yet reaching its corners. "Well, she usually has this middle-aged woman come in for her groceries. And I rarely see Miss Kim go out for groceries," he explained, his voice echoing slightly in the quiet corridor.
"R-really?" I said, my heart beginning to race with a nervous energy. A chill ran down my spine, the kind that only uncertainty could bring.
"Was the door open the whole time this morning?" I asked, fishing out my phone from my pocket, my fingers trembling slightly.
"Well, I was asleep the whole night, and the new intern was on night duty, so I don't know. I can check the footage," he offered.
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat as I watched him walk away, promising to tell me if he found anything suspicious. The silence that followed was thick, almost tangible, wrapping around me like a shroud as I stood alone in the apartment, clutching my phone and trying to quell the unease that gnawed at my mind.
I decided to text Winter, my fingers tapping anxiously on the screen. The message sat in "delivered" status for what felt like an eternity, ten minutes ticking by in silence. Impatience gnawed at me, urging me to take action.
With a deepening worry, I abandoned texting and dialed her number instead. The phone rang, each tone echoing in the quiet room, but there was no answer. My pulse quickened, and a knot tightened in my stomach.
Turning to the Find My app on my phone, I searched for her location. My fingers moved urgently over the screen, navigating to the app. My heart sank when her location couldn't be found, the map showing only her last known whereabouts here, at home.
