*The weekend*
Winter's P.O.V
The bustling café was filled with the hum of chatter and the clinking of coffee cups as Karina sat with her friends, their usual spot by the window providing a perfect view of the lively street outside.
"So you're free?" Yujin's voice broke through the noise, her brows furrowed with concern.
"Yes," Karina replied, her voice steady but carrying an undertone of resignation.
"But disowned," Ryujin added, her tone incredulous.
"Yes," Karina said again, a hint of bitterness creeping in.
"And he sold your apartment?!" Giselle exclaimed, slamming her hand on the table in frustration, causing a few heads to turn in their direction.
"Yes," Karina sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly.
"Where will you live?" Wonyoung asked, her wide eyes reflecting genuine worry.
"With Winter," Karina said nonchalantly, though a spark of happiness lit up her eyes, belying the gravity of her situation. Despite the turmoil with her father, the thought of living with Winter brought a sense of joy and comfort.
"Is Winter okay with that?" Chaewon asked, her voice soft but curious.
"Of course she is," Karina responded confidently.
"Of course I am," I echoed, meeting Karina's gaze. Our eyes locked, and a shared smile spread across our faces, a small giggle escaping as we found solace in each other amidst the chaos."You all better not do any funny business; you guys are still too young," Ningning teased, a playful smirk on her lips.
Everyone burst into laughter, the tension in the air dissipating. I playfully punched Ningning's shoulder, joining in on the lighthearted banter.
The café's warm ambiance seemed to wrap around us, providing a temporary haven from the outside world. As we continued to chat and joke, the reality of Karina's situation faded into the background, replaced by the camaraderie and support of friends who, despite everything, were determined to make the best out of a difficult situation.
"Well... why don't we celebrate and have a mini party at your guys' place?" Chaewon suggested cheerfully, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Ningning clapped her hands, her enthusiasm infectious.
"Aww, it's like you guys are for real a couple now. A married couple," Minju teased, her voice light and playful. My cheeks flushed at her statement, a warm blush spreading across my face. It had been days since our last issue, and I was relieved to see Minju back at our group hangouts, her presence a comforting return to normalcy.
"Married couples with no labels," Ryujin chimed in, her tone dripping with sarcasm. Yeji immediately smacked the back of Ryujin's head, eliciting a yelp of protest.
"Ow! What was that for?" Ryujin grumbled, rubbing the sore spot.
