Chapter 9: SUNRISE

Since the advent of the smartphone, Kasuagi crowshave slowly been fazed out until the D.S.C stopped using them completely(expect the Ubyashiki family) because now, in a rapidly modernizing society, crows could be easily captured and killed. However this brings up the problem of how missions are accurately reported, since unfaithful slayers could just report that they completed the mission and pay the demon to just move (Which used to happen. If you're wondering what they spend it on it could be drugs, vanity, women (or men), etc..). So to solve this problem (and improve communication) the D.S.C provided a headphone for the right ear (Just search up JBL endurance peak 3) that record the wearers voice, the surrounding noise, and includes a camera to record. Failure to wear one would result in expulsion from the D.S.C and jail time (depending on the mission).

Anyway back to our main man Tanjiro who is currently right outside the office of the overseer of the harbor.

4:00 P.M

"Ah so your the slayer they sent, come in come in. I'm sure you've heard about what's going on."

"Not really I was just told to investigate some demon sightings here at the dock"

"Eh that's close enough, my workers have reported some strange sightings like figures running on crates at night meeting with each other and finding packets of cocaine laced with demon blood in secluded areas. Basically what I'm saying is I think there's a drug circle revolving around my dock"

"Uh shouldn't you have called the police first or something then?"

"Should've? Yes. Did I? No. Why? Because they would've made a big deal out of it and shut down my harbor. But the D.S.C will just silently send a guy over to deal with it, you"

"I mean alright it's what I'm here for"

"Good good now, the sightings are primarily on the East dock so I suggest you start now before it gets dark"

"Yes sir" Tanjiro says while walking out

Tanjiro walks over to the East dock while marveling at the massive ships and crates.

"Man they're even bigger up close..."

Tanjiro eventually gets to the east side and begins to investigate. His sense of smell comes in handy when he asks to see a bag of the demon blood laced drugs. He finds the scent of someone handling it but not a demon, he sniffs around for a bit before locking on the path to the person who the scent was coming from. He cautiously and silently treads towards the person until eventually he comes to a secluded shipping container that had its doors slightly pried open. Tanjiro puts his ear as close as he can to try and listen in.

"They've called in a demon slayer!" Some shouts in a hushed tone

"It'll be fine they won't find us"

"What if they do a-and what if he kills us because of it"

"Just relax"

"Yeah listen to Shiko" A third voice buts in

As Tanjiro listens in he finds something peculiar it's two boys and a girl and they all sound young, like his age. Tanjiro then decided he's listened enough and decides to enter now.

"Who exactly will kill you?" Tanjiro says while barging in

"AHHH!" All three scream at once

"I TOLD YOU HE'D FIND US!" One of the boys yelled

"P-please don't turn us in" The girl stutters out

"Sorry about barging in like that" Tanjiro sighs
