Chapter 52

2 hours later.

Irin stands outside Freen's room, staring through the glass at the brunette's sleeping body in the hospital bed, and she looks at Becky, struggling to keep her eyes open. But Irin knows she wouldn't move from her side no matter what.

She sighs tiredly, still shaken by the latest events, and right then Rachel approaches her in the hallway, smiling at her. "You did good, Irin. You saved them."

She smiles weakly. "That was the scariest thing I've ever had to do."

"I know, but it also proved how good you are. I'm proud of you."

They exchange one last smile before Rachel walks away, and joins Becky.

She lets out a breath of relief and before she knows Rachel is pulling her into an embrace and hold her tightly, Becky melts into the hug.

"I don't know what I would have done if something happened to them..." Becky whispers.

Rachel smiles and rubs her back soothingly. "Nothing happened love. All three of them are healthy."

Becky breaks the hug and stares into green eyes with relief. "Mum?"

"Yes love?"

"Can I see her?"

"In a minute love. Come on!"

Together they go in.

When Freen opens her eyes it's probably the middle of the night. She recognizes the hospital's surroundings, and everything is quiet around her, just like when she passed out. She fears she might be dreaming for a moment, that maybe she's dead, but her fear suddenly disappears when she notices Becky and Billy hiding in the dark of the room, along with two tiny humans in both of their arms.

Becky smiles softly and walks over the brunette's bed, resting a hand on her forehead and placing a gentle kiss on her lips. "You're okay baby."

Freen smiles tiredly, and tries to open her mouth to speak, but feeling it too dry. She clears her throat and swallows hardly, then tries again.

"How are they?" Her voice hoarse.

"They're beautiful. And healthy."

Freen smiles. "Yeah?"

Billy walks next to her and they place each of them in Freen's arms. Her heart melts as soon as she lays eyes on them.

"Oh God...they're perfect." She whispers.

"Like their mother." Becky says.

Freen rolls her eyes and shakes her head, glancing at one of her baby girls. "Willa looks just like you."

Both Becky and Billy stare at her blankly, Freen just shrugs, "Willa for William."

Becky is surprised by the fact that Freen had just named their daughter after her late best friend. Someone she loved a lot and misses dearly. She felt like bursting into tears by Freen's thoughtfulness but she doesn't. Becky smiles widely with tears in her eyes, but doesn't cry.

Freen doesn't know how much Becky had cried already at the thought that she was about to lose her a few hours before, and she doesn't need to.

"What about her?" Billy asks. "She was the first to come out, you know." He smirks.

Freen stares at them both with tears in her eyes, thinking that she might have lost them both.

The baby stirs her head in a cute way, and Freen can't help but smile at the small action.

"Grace." Billy says, capturing the girls attention. "She has delicate features. It just makes me think of that name as the right one for her."

Freen looks back at the newborn in her arms and smiles softly. "Our little Gracie." She whispers.

Becky places a kiss on Freen's forehead and then rests her head against the brunette's.

"Becky?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you...for believing in me."

It might seem a foolish thing to say, but both girls know how much Freen was scared that everything could go wrong. How she was afraid to let Becky down, although she could never do that. Becky would never make her feel any less of the amazing woman she thinks Freen is.

Becky smiles and stares at Freen with tenderness, brushing her thumb on her cheek. "You are my hero, Freen Sarocha Chankimha."

And when the storm ends, and no one is one step closer to death, and the snow rests quietly....you will even be able to enjoy the view.
