"Why do you ship Johnlock?"
Well I am glad you asked that. Let me pull out my binder of laminated sheets, pictures and PowerPoint presentation *pulls up podium*
The friendship between John Watson and Sherlock Holmes has always been great. They are probably the most famous and iconic duo of all time. But what makes their bond so extraordinary? So special that people keep coming back for more?
They say that opposites attract, and in the case of Watson and Sherlock, I believe that they are absolutely right.
Watson is not the most intelligent (though he is clever). But that's the thing, Sherlock has a brain. He doesn't need another. He needs the most loyal, brave, kind, and clever man there is. And THAT is John Hamish Watson.
Their friendship is so fantastic that over the years, even though hundreds of producers and writers have rewritten their lives, it remains the same.
Don't fix it, if it ain't broken!
John and Sherlock are best friends. But to be perfectly honest, that's all I see them as. I don't see them as a romantic couple. I just can't.
There are other OTPs I have which I can (like Destiel) but with Johnlock I can't.
Maybe it's the fact that all my life u have watched Sherlock Holmes movie and programmes that had no hint of romance.
The gay subtext really only began with BBC Sherlock. Which I don't mind.
Actually, I think it gives the show something distinct and a great platform for creating running jokes. Most importantly, it makes the show more current.
More... modern.
And that is definitely what I believe Moffat and Gatiss are trying to achieve.
They're keeping the characters. Keeping the plots (more or less). But making it more current. More... relatable.
In short, Johnlock is quite simply the best duo of all time. The very fact that we are still creating TV shows and movies based on them 120 years later proves that!
